The Outreach publicity leaflet was little more than a selection of quotations from Qur'an in bold and Hadith in italic to introduce them to those with little familiarity with them (and that goes for a good proportion of muslims as well as non-muslims). I like to think that the selection may have shown some people a gentler side of Islam than they had previously associated with it. I have kept the centre justification of the text as it was on the original leaflet - because I liked it that way.

ISLAMIC OUTREACH

Publicity Leaflet

In the Name of God, All Merciful, All Compassionate
All praise to God, the Lord of the Worlds,
All Merciful, All Compassionate.
Master of the Day of Judgement.
You alone we serve, and You alone we ask for help.
Show us the straight way;
the way of those with blessings upon them, not anger upon them,
not those who stray.

Come now to a word common between us and you, that we serve none
but God, and we associate naught with Him

Who is God?
The knower of the Unseen and the Visible,
the All-merciful, the All-compassionate,
the King, the All-holy, the All-peaceable, the All-faithful,
the All-preserver, the All-mighty,
the All-compeller, the All-sublime,
the Creator, the Maker, the Shaper,
the All-mighty, the All-wise.

We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and in themselves,
till it is clear to them that it is the truth.

Surely truth leads to virtue, and virtue leads to paradise.

And of His signs is that thou seest the earth humble;
then, when We send down water upon it, it quivers and swells.
Surely He who quickens it is He who quickens the dead;
surely He is powerful over everything.

We created not the heavens and earth, and all between them,
in play; We created them not save in truth; but most know it not.

The seeking of knowledge is obligatory upon every muslim.

He who goes forth in search of knowledge is on the way of God till he returns.

And of His signs is that He created you of dust; then lo, you are
mortals, all scattered abroad.
And of His signs is that He created for you, of yourselves,
spouses, that you might repose in them,
and He has set between you love and mercy.
Surely in that are signs for a people who consider.
And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and earth
and the variety of your tongues and hues.
Surely in that are signs for all living beings.

O mankind, We have created you male and female, and appointed you
races and tribes, that you may know one another. Surely the noblest
among you in the sight of God is the most godfearing of you.
God is All-knowing, All-aware.

The most perfect of the believers in faith is the best of them in moral
excellence, and the best of you are the kindest to their wives.

The servants of the All-merciful are those who walk in the earth
modestly, and who, when the ignorant address them, say, "Peace"

What is with you comes to an end, but what is with God abides;
and surely We shall recompense those who were patient their wage,
according to the best of what they did.
And whosoever does a righteous deed, be it male of female,
believing, We shall recompense them their wage,
according to the best of what they did.

Actions are by intention, and every man shall have that which he intended.

Every soul shall taste of death; and We try you with evil and good
for a testing, then unto Us you shall be returned.

O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you
for whatever you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins
to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I
would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as
great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I
would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.

By Time - surely Man is in loss,
save those who believe, and do good deeds,
and counsel truth, and counsel patience.

None of you believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself.

Turn not thy cheek away from men in scorn,
and walk not in the earth exultantly;
God loves not any man proud and boastful.

You will see the faithful in their having mercy for one another, and in their
love for one another, and in their kindness for one another, like the body;
when one member of it ails, the entire body ails, one part calling out to the
other with sleeplessness and fever.

In the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be whole, all the body is
whole, and which, if it be diseased, all of it is diseased. It is the heart.

In God's remembrance are at rest
the hearts of those who believe and do righteous deeds.

Whoever believes in God and the last day should not harm his neighbour.

No compulsion is there in religion.
Rectitude has become clear from error.
So whosoever disbelieves in idols and believes in God,
has laid hold of the most firm handle, unbreaking;
God is All-hearing, All-knowing.

Today I have perfected your religion for you,
and I have completed My blessing upon you,
and I have approved Islam for your religion.
But whosoever is constrained in emptiness
and not inclining purposely to sin -
God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate.

Religion is easy, and no one exerts himself too much in religion but it
overpowers him; so act aright, and keep to the mean, and be of good cheer, and
ask for God's help at morning and evening, and during a part of the night.
