You may have noticed
that virtually all the media stuff on the site has been for radio.
It's not that i haven't been asked to do stuff on TV, but apart from
a few programmes for people I knew, I always declined. So many
people nowadays see celebrity as something to be desired, but
personally I much prefer the anonymity of radio to seeing my face
looking back at me from the TV screen in the local chip shop or
takeaway. Anyway,
apart from these bits for STV, all of the TV I have done has been
unscripted. But when they asked me to do a series of Evening Call,
which had a huge audience being close to the evening news,I asked
them if I could script them for just visuals and voiceover, and they
agreed. The visuals were all filmed in what was then the very new
St. Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art in Glasgow. I thought it
made a change from the usual set of vicars in front of assorted
stained glass windows, and the producer seemed to like them - but
they never asked me back. |
