You know, one of the most common temptations that people have is to be selfish.

They think that the best thing for themselves is to try to get

the things that they think they need for themselves.

They try to get for themselves what they feel they want for themselves.

Because almost everyone wants and needs the same things, everyone thinks that they live in competition with each other.

No-one believes that there can be enough of everything for everybody.

That doesnt seem to make sense.

But that is the way that the world really works.

God provides enough of whatever people need,

all they need to do is learn how to share it all around.

When people fight each other they destroy what they have,

and when they work together they make more than they could alone.

But still people fight each other to try to get what the other has got,

only to find that the winners of the fight rarely get what they were fighting for.

The only winner in a fight is someone who wins a fight for justice

for justice is for everybody.

So Muslims have to learn that what is good for everyone altogether

is actually the best thing for themselves.

And because the more people that know this is true the better things are for everybody,

it is everyone's job to remind everyone else when they forget.

It is good for everyone to do good things and to avoid the bad things that do them harm,

but it is even better when everyone feels the same way, and benefits from co-operating together.

Muslims must try to always remember this truth,

and also remember that it is not enough for them to avoid doing bad things.

They must make an effort to try to stop bad things from happening in society.

As well as doing good, they must try to make their society better.

They must speak up for what is Good and what is Just, and what is True.

Things that are good for everybody are the best things for ourselves.
