Technology
You know,
as people made their homes in different places around the world
they had to use the brains that God had given them
to invent ways to solve all the different problem s that they faced.
Before there were knives, people used sharp stones to cut things,
and once they had found a way to make fire, they could cook things
and bake clay pots in which to store things,
and in the end find ways to make things out of metal.
And slowly they invented all sorts of different things to make life easier,
just like when things were too high to reach, and someone had to invent the ladder.
All technology doesn't have to be complicated,
and usually the simplest solution to a problem is the best and lasts the longest.
Once upon a time someone invented the wheel,
and we still use them quite a lot today.
So as muslims travelled around the world they found places much like Scotland,
where the clouds could cover the sun for days,
and they needed to find ways to tell when it was time to pray,
and had to invent different kinds of clocks.
And most importantly they had to find ways to get clean water,
not just to drink and cook with, but to wash before their prayers.
Now muslims ended up in some places that had lots of water,
even enough to cover the ground in rice paddies.
But other places they needed to water the land to grow things,
and that could involve moving water from place to place,
and they came up with all sorts of clever ways to lift water from low places to high,
so that the water could then run in different directions.
But they also lived in deserts, where the sun baked the earth dry,
but still they found ways to move water for long distances across them.
Well, not exactly across them,
more a case of underneath them,
as they did it by digging canals that ran under the ground,
with holes up to the surface every now and then,
where people could bring up the water to use for themselves and their crops.
Well, well, well.
of the Signs of their Liege

away from it
is the greeting
from a Liege
Ever-Merciful
Hu has sent down
the Measure
of right and wrong
upon Hu's servant
so he may be
a warner to
all beings
the heavens and the earth
can Hu not create
the like of them?
yes indeed
