Jealousy
You know, one thing that humans can find very hard to control is Jealousy.
When someone has received some good fortune,
some others won't be able to share in their happiness,
and are just upset that they haven't received the good fortune themselves.
Jealous people want what other people have and they don't.
Jealous people don't want other people to have what they have.
Jealous people are unhappy because they can never have everything they want.
Jealousy can never be satisfied,
only controlled.
Now, most of the time being jealous doesn't help to change things at all,
and often makes things worse.
You see, what the jealous person wants doesn't even have to be possible.
It is enough for them to be able to imagine it as possible
for them to find a reason to be jealous.
Jealousy can have impossible dreams,
but even when what is envied is possible
and does change to what the jealous person wants,
a jealous mind can still find so many different reasons to be jealous.
It's possible to be jealous of other people for the things they own,
or their riches, or strength, or beauty, or skill.
The reason humans can be jealous of others in so many ways
is because it is part of what humans are.
A kind of Jealousy can power the urge to achieve,
in sport or business,
in science or games,
envying someone's achievements
and then like them trying to be the best at something.
So it is possible for people to use jealousy, focussed and under control, to achieve good,
envying someone else's good deeds,
but one thing jealousy can never do is make the one who feels it happy.
Quite the opposite,
jealousy always makes the one who feels it unhappy.
It is a way of seeing the world that makes us feel bad,
and it has to be kept under control.
Jealousy makes us look to other people to see what we don't have,
while showing no concern for those who are jealous of what we have ourselves.
were just one people
then they fell
into difference
and apart from
a word beforehand
from your Liege
the decision
would already
have been made
between them
about the things
on which they differed
God does not wrong
humankind
in any way
people wrong themselves
"Who provides for you
out of heaven and earth?
who controls
what you hear and see?
who brings life
out of what was dead
and brings death
from what was living?
who directs
everything that happens?"
they will surely say
"God"
then say
"So will you not be
Mindful of God?"
who did wrong
a bad deed
will be repaid
by one the same
shame
will spread over them
and they will have
no-one to protect them
from God
their faces veiled
as though by strips
of the shadows of the night
those are the ones
who live in the Fire
and will live there forever
