the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
God's judgement is coming
so do not try to hurry it
Glory be to Hu
Hu is raised on high
above anything
they partner
with Hu
Hu sends down the Angels
with the spirit of
Hu's command
upon whoever Hu wills
among Hu's servants
to give warning
that there is no god
apart from Me
so be
Mindful of Me
Hu created
the heavens and the earth
in truth
Hu is raised on high
above anything
they partner
with Hu
Hu created humans
from a drop of liquid
and they openly
challenge Hu
and Hu created
livestock for you
in which are warmth
and various uses
and some of them
you eat
and for you
there is beauty in them
when you bring them
home to rest
and when you drive them
out to graze
and they carry your loads
to lands
you would never reach
except with great difficulty
surely your Liege is
Forgiving-by-Nature
Ever-Merciful
and horses and mules
and donkeys
for you to ride
and use for show
and Hu creates
what you do not know
it is for God
to show the way
and some
swerve away from it
if Hu willed
Hu would have guided you
all together
it is Hu sends down to you
out of the heavens
water
and from it you drink
and from it comes shrubs
for you to graze your herds
and from it
Hu brings out crops
and olives
and palms
and vines
and all kinds of fruit
surely in that is a Sign
for people who think
and Hu has made
the night and day
to benefit you
and the sun and moon
and the stars
by Hu's command
surely in that are Signs
for people who understand
and all that Hu
has multiplied for you
in the earth
of different colours
surely in that is a Sign
for people who remember
it is Hu made the sea
of benefit for you
so you can eat
fresh meat from it
and bring out of it
ornaments
for you to wear
and you can see the ships
cutting through it
so you can search for
Hu's bounty
and so hopefully
you will be thankful
and Hu set firm mountains
upon the earth
so it would not
shake beneath you
and rivers and pathways
so hopefully
you will be guided
and landmarks
and they are guided
by the stars
is Hu that creates
to be compared
to one who does not create
will you not remember
if you try to count
God's blessings
you will never find
a number for them
surely God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
and God knows
what you keep secret
and what you say out loud
and those they call upon
apart from God
created nothing
and are themselves created
they are dead
not alive
and do not know
when they will be raised
your God is One God
and those who
do not believe
in the world to come
have hearts that deny
and they have grown proud
without a doubt
God knows
what they keep secret
and what they say out loud
Hu does not love
those that grow proud
and when it is said to them
"What has your Liege
sent down?"
they say
"Fairy tales
of the people of long ago"
so they may carry
their full burdens
on the Day of Rising
and some of the burdens
of those they led
in the wrong way
with no knowledge
how dreadful
their burdens will be
those before them
made plans
then God came
at their building
from the foundations
and the roof
fell down on them
from over them
and the punishment
came on them
from where
they were not expecting
then on the Day of Rising
Hu will disgrace them
saying
"Where are My partner-gods
for whose sake
you opposed Me?"
those that were given
knowledge
will say
"Today there is
disgrace and misery
for those who are
ungrateful
those whom the Angels take
while they are still
wronging themselves"
then they will
offer their surrender
saying
"We were doing
nothing wrong"
no
surely God knows
the things you did
so enter the gates of Hell
to live there forever
the home of
those that grow proud
is evil indeed
and to those who are
Mindful of God
it will be said
"What has your Liege
sent down?"
they will say
"Good
for those who do good
in this world"
and surely the home
of the world to come
is better
excellent is the home
of those who are
Mindful of God
they shall enter
Gardens of Eden
beneath which rivers flow
in which they shall have
whatever they will
in that way
God rewards
those who are
Mindful of God
those whom the Angels take
while they are doing good
saying
"Peace be upon you
enter Paradise
for what you were doing"
are they waiting for
the Angels to come to them?
or that
your Liege's command
shall come?
so did those before them
and God did not
do them wrong
they wronged themselves
so the wicked things they did
struck them
and they were
surrounded by
what they had made fun of
those who worship idols say
"If God had willed
we would not have served
anything apart from Hu
not us
nor our families from before
nor would we have
forbidden anything"
those before them
said the same thing
but do the Messengers
have to do anything
apart from deliver
the Clear Message?
indeed We sent
to every people
a Messenger
saying
"Serve God
and abandon idols"
then God guided
some of them
and some were led
to the wrong way
as they deserved
so journey in the land
and see how it ended
for those who said
it was all lies
though you are
ever so eager
to guide them
God does not guide
those Hu leads
to the wrong way
they have no helpers
they have sworn by God
their strongest oaths
"God will never raise up
the one who dies"
no
it is a promise
binding on Hu
but most people
do not know
so Hu may
make clear to them
those things about which
they disagreed
and so that those who are
ungrateful
may know that they were
really the liars
the only words
We say to a thing
when We want it
is that We say to it
"Be"
and it is
and those that made Hijra
for God's sake
after they had
been wronged
We will surely give them
a good place to live
in this world
and the reward
of the world to come
is greater still
if they only knew
for those who are patient
and put their trust in
their Liege
We did not send
anyone before you
except those
to whom We revealed
"Ask the people about
the Reminder
if you do not know"
with the Clear Signs
and the Psalms
We have sent down to you
the Reminder
so you may make clear
to humankind
what was sent down to them
so hopefully
they will think about it
do they feel safe
those who plan evil things
that God will not cause
the earth to swallow them
or that the punishment
will not come upon them
from
where they least expect
or that Hu will not
seize them
in their going to and fro
and they will not be able
to prevent Hu
or that Hu will not
seize them
little by little
destroying them
surely your Liege is
Forgiving-by-Nature
Ever-Merciful
have they not looked at
all the things
that God has created
casting their shadows
to the right and the left
making Sajda before God
in all humility
everything in the heavens
makes Sajda to God
and every creature
crawling on the earth
and the Angels
they have not grown proud
they fear
their Liege above them
and they do
what they are commanded
God says
"Do not take two gods
for yourself
Hu is only One God
so have wonder
only for Me"
to Hu belongs
all that is in the heavens
and in the earth
for Hu
is the Way of Life
for ever
so will you be afraid of
anything other than God
whatever blessing you have
it comes from God
then when harm strikes you
you cry out to Hu
then when Hu takes away
the harm from you
a group of you
set up partners
with your Liege
they are ungrateful
for what
We have given them
so take your enjoyment
soon you will know
and they give a share
of what We have
provided for them
to what they do not know
by God
you shall be questioned
about what you did
and they say
"God has daughters"
glory be to Hu
and they have
what they want
and when any of them
is given
the good news of a girl
their face is darkened
and they choke inside
hiding from the people
because of how bad
the good news was
that had been
given to them
whether to keep it
in shame
or tread it
into the ground
how evil is their judgement
those who do not believe in
the world to come
theirs is the lowest likeness
God's is the highest likeness
Hu is
the All-Powerful
the All-Wise
if God took
humankind
for doing wrong
Hu would not leave
on earth
one living creature
but Hu lets them be
until a set time
and when
their time is come
they will not
put it back
by a single hour
nor put it forward
what they do not like
they say is due to God
and their tongues
declare the lie
that the reward
most fair
shall be theirs
without doubt
theirs will be
the Fire
and they will be
hurried into it
by God
it is certain
We sent Messengers
to nations before you
but
Satan
made what they did
seem pleasing to them
and for today
is their protector
but waiting for them
is a painful punishment
and We have only
sent down
the Book
so you can
make clear to them
the things about which
they disagree
and as a guide
and as a mercy
to people who believe
and it is God
Hu sends down
out of heaven
water
and by it
brings the earth
back to life
surely in that is a Sign
for people who hear
and surely
in livestock
there is a lesson
for you
We give you a drink
from what is in their bellies
between dung and blood
pure milk
sweet to drinkers
and of the fruits
of the palms and the vines
you take juices
and are well provided for
surely in that is a Sign
for people who understand
and your Liege
revealed to the bees
saying
"Take houses for yourselves
in the mountains
and in the trees
and in what they build
then eat
of all kinds of fruit
and follow the ways
of your Liege
easy to go upon"
then
from out of their bellies
comes a drink
of many colours
in which is healing
for humankind
surely in that is a Sign
for people who think
God created you
then Hu will
gather you back again
and some of you
will be kept until
the lowest state of life
when
after knowing things
they know nothing
God is
All-Knowing
All-Capable
and God has preferred
some of you over others
in what
you have been given
but those
that were preferred
do not give
what they have been given
to their slaves
so they can be equal in it
do they deny
God's blessing?
and God has given you
from yourselves
marriage partners
and Hu has given you
with your partners
children and grandchildren
and Hu has given you
good things
do they believe
in what is false
and deny God's blessing
and do they serve
apart from God
what has no power
to give them anything
from the heavens
or the earth
and can do nothing?
so do not try
to invent things
to be like God
surely God knows
and you know not
God sets out
something like it
a slave
owned by someone
with no power
over anything
compared to someone
We have given
good and plenty
and they give from it
secretly and openly
are they equal?
grateful praise
belongs to God
no
most of them
do not know
God sets out
something like it
two people
one who does not speak
having no power
over anything
who is trouble
for the one
who defends them
wherever they are sent
they bring no good
are they equal
to one who urges justice
and is on a straight path?
to God belongs
what cannot be seen
in the heavens
and in the earth
and the coming of
the Hour
is like
the blink of an eye
or closer
truly
God is powerful
over everything
and God brought you
out of your mothers wombs
knowing nothing
and Hu gave you hearing
and sight
and hearts
so that hopefully
you will be
thankful
have they not seen
the birds
made to fly in the air
in the heavens
nothing holds them
except God
surely in that are Signs
for people who believe
and God has made
your houses
to be a place of rest for you
and has made for you
houses from animal skins
which are light
for you to carry
when you travel
and when you stay
and from their wool
and their fur
and their hair
you have furnishings
and enjoyment
for a while
and God has made
shade for you
from the things
Hu created
and has made
safe shelter
in the mountains
for you
and has made
shirts for you
to protect you
from the heat
and shirts
to protect you
from your own violence
like that
Hu makes your blessing
a perfect one
in the hope that
you will surrender
so if they turn their backs
it is only for you
to deliver
the clear Message
they recognize
the blessing of God
then they deny it
and most of them
are those who are
ungrateful
and on the day
We shall raise up
from every people
a witness
and those who are
ungrateful
will be given no excuse
nor allowed
to make things better
and when
those who do wrong
see the punishment
it will not be
made lighter for them
and they will be given
no relief
and when those who
partnered other gods
with God
see those partner-gods
they will say
"Our Liege
these are the ones
we prayed to
apart from You"
but they will
fling their words
back at them
saying
"Surely you are
truly liars"
and on that day
they will offer
their surrender
to God
and their inventions
will go the wrong way
and on those who are
ungrateful
and bar people
from God's Way
We will
heap punishment upon
punishment
because they were
spreading sickness
and on that day
We will raise up
from every people
a witness against them
from amongst them
and We will bring you
as a witness against those
and We have
sent down on you
the Book
making everything clear
and as a guide
and a mercy
and good news
for those who surrender
surely God urges justice
and doing good
and giving to family
and forbids
what is shameful
or not honourable
or deserving blame
warning you
so that hopefully
you will remember
keep to
your agreement
with God
when you make
an agreement
and do not break promises
once they are made firm
and you have made God
your guarantee
surely God knows
the things you do
and do not be
like a woman
who breaks her thread
untwisting it
after it has been
tightly spun
using your promises
to deceive each other
just because
one community
is bigger than another
God
is only testing you
by this
and surely
on the Day of Rising
Hu will make clear for you
the things
you disagreed on
if God had willed
Hu would have made you
one people
but Hu leads
to the wrong way
whoever Hu wills
and guides
whoever Hu wills
and you will surely
be questioned
about the things you did
and do not use
your promises
to deceive each other
in case your foot slips
after having stood firm
and in case you taste evil
because you kept others
from God's Way
and in case there is
waiting for you
a mighty punishment
and do not sell
an agreement
made with God
for a small price
surely what is with God
is better for you
if you only knew
what is with you
comes to an end
but what is with God
goes on forever
and surely We will reward
those who were patient
what they have earned
according to
the best of what they did
and whoever does
a good deed
whether male or female
if they believe
We will give them
a good life to live
and We will
pay them their wage
according to
the best of what they did
when you recite
the Reading
ask for God's protection
from Satan the rejected
it has no authority
over those who believe
and trust in their Liege
its authority
is only over those who
take it for a friend
and partner gods
with God
and when We exchange
one Sign
in place of another
and God knows very well
what Hu is sending down
they say
"You are just making this up"
no
most of them
have no knowledge
say
"The Holy Spirit
has sent it down
from your Liege
in truth
and to strengthen
those who believe
and to be a guide
and good news
for those who surrender"
and We know very well
that they say
"It is just a mortal
that is teaching him"
but they suggest
that it is the language
of someone
who is not an Arab
and this is
spoken in clear Arabic
those who do not believe
in the Signs of God
God will not guide them
there is waiting for them
a painful punishment
they only invent lies
those who
do not believe in
the Signs of God
it is those who are
the liars
those who reject God
after they have believed
apart from anyone
who has been
forced to say it
but whose heart
is still at rest in belief
but for those
whose breast grows open
to rejecting belief
anger
from God
will come down
on them
and there is waiting
for them
a mighty punishment
that is because
they have preferred
the present life
over the world to come
and because
God does not guide
those who are
ungrateful
as for them
God has sealed up
their hearts
and their hearing
and their sight
they are the ones
who paid no attention
there is no doubt
in the world to come
they will be the losers
then surely for those
who made Hijra
after they had been
persecuted
then struggled
and were patient
afterwards
to them your Liege is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
on that day
every soul will come
pleading for itself
and every soul
will be paid in full
for what it has done
and they will not
be wronged
God sets out
something like it
a city
that was safe
at peace
what it was provided
coming to it
easily
from everywhere
and then it was
ungrateful
for the blessings of God
so God gave it clothes
of hunger and fear
for the things
they had been doing
and a Messenger
came to them
from amongst them
whom they called
a liar
so they were seized
by the punishment
while they were still
doing wrong
so eat
of what
God has given you
lawful and good
and be thankful for
the blessing of God
if it is Hu that you serve
and these are
the only things
Hu has forbidden you
creatures found
already dead
blood
the meat of pigs
and what has been killed
in the name of
other than God
but if someone
is forced to eat it
not wanting it
and not wanting
to do wrong
God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
and do not lie about things
saying
"This is lawful
and this is forbidden"
inventing lies against God
surely those who invent
lies against God
will not do well
a little enjoyment
then waiting for them
a painful punishment
and We have forbidden
to the Jews
those things that
We told you about before
and We did not wrong them
they wronged themselves
then surely
your Liege
to those who
did wrong without knowing
but after that were sorry
and put things right
surely after that
your Liege is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
surely Abraham
was a people
obedient
of pure belief
and not worshipping idols
thankful for
Hu's blessings
chosen by Hu
and guided by Hu
to a straight path
to whom We gave
good in this world
and in the world to come
a place among
those who do good
then We revealed to you
that you should follow
the Way of Abraham
a man of pure belief
not worshipping idols
the Sabbath was set
only for those
who disagreed about it
surely your Liege
will decide between them
on the Day of Rising
concerning the things
on which they differ
call to
the Way of your Liege
with wisdom
and fair warning
and argue with them
in the kindest way
surely your Liege
knows very well
those who have taken
the wrong way
other than Hu's Way
and Hu knows very well
those who are guided
and if you want
to punish someone
for causing you harm
punish them
only as much
as you were
punished by them
and surely
if you are patient
it is better
for those who are
patient
so be patient
but you can have
patience
only with
the help of God
and do not be
sad for them
and do not be
upset about
what they plan
surely
God is with
those who are
Mindful of God
and those who
do good deeds
