By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
the sending down
of the Book
is from God
the All-Powerful
the Wise
We have sent down to you
the Book
with the truth
so serve God
making your Way of Life
Hu's Way
with complete honesty
does an honest Way of Life
not belong to God?
and those who take
protectors
apart from Hu saying
"We only serve them
so they can bring us
closer to God"
God will judge
between them
about the things
on which they disagree
surely God does not guide
those who are liars
and ungrateful
if God had wanted
to have a son
Hu would have chosen
whatever Hu wished
of what Hu has created
glory be to Hu
Hu is God
the One
the Irresistible
Hu created
the heavens and the earth
in truth
wrapping night
around the day
wrapping day
around the night
and Hu has made
the sun and the moon
serve
each of them running to
a decided time
is not Hu
the All-Powerful
the Ever-Forgiving?
Hu created you
from a single self
then from it
Hu produced its pair
and Hu sent down
livestock to you
eight kinds in pairs
Hu creates you
in your mother's wombs
creation after creation
in three times darkness
that then is God
your Liege
to Hu belongs the realm
there is no God but Hu
so how are you
turned around?
if you are ungrateful
God is
rich beyond
need of you
but Hu is not pleased
when Hu's servants are
ungrateful
but if you are grateful
Hu is pleased with that
in you
no soul
with its load to carry
can carry the load of
another
then
to your Liege
you shall return
and Hu will tell you
what you were doing
Hu knows the thoughts
within the breast
when harm visits humans
they call out to their Liege
turning to Hu
then when Hu
hands down to them
a blessing from Hu
they forget what
they were calling out
before
and set up
partner-gods with God
to lead astray
from Hu's Way
say
"Enjoy being
ungrateful
for a little while
you shall be with
those living in
the Fire"
what about those
who obey God
spend the night hours
in Sajda and standing
afraid of
the world to come
hoping for
the mercy of their Liege?
say
"Are they equal
those who know
and
those who do not know?"
only those who understand
remember
say
"My servants who believe
fear your Liege
for those who do good
in this world
good
and God's earth is wide
those who are patient
will be paid
what they have earned
in full
without reckoning"
say
"I have been commanded
to serve God
making my Way of Life
Hu's Way
with all my heart
I have been commanded
to be the first
of those that surrender"
say
"I truly fear
if I rebel against my Liege
the punishment of
a dreadful day"
say
"I serve God
making my Way of Life
Hu's Way
with all my heart
so serve
whatever you like
apart from Hu"
say
"Surely the losers
are those
who lose themselves
and their families
on the Day of Rising
is that not a clear loss?"
above them they shall have
hanging layers of fire
and hanging layers
beneath them
and by that
God strikes fear
into Hu's servants
O My servants
be Mindful of Me
those who give up
serving idols
and turn in sorrow to God
will have good news
so give good news
to My servants
who listen to what is said
and follow the best of it
those God has guided
those can understand
as for those against whom
the punishment
is being carried out
will you rescue them
from the Fire?
but those who are
Mindful of their Liege
will have high-roofed halls
above which are built
more high-roofed halls
and beneath which
rivers flow
God's promise
God does not
break a promise
have you not seen
how God sends down
water out of heaven
and threads it
through the earth
to form springs
then Hu brings out
crops of different colours
then they wither
and you see them
turning yellow
then Hu makes them
broken stubble
surely in that
is a reminder for
those who understand
what of those whose breast
God has opened to
surrendering
so they walk in
a light from their Liege?
but woe to those
whose hearts
are hardened against
remembering God
they have clearly
taken the wrong way
God has sent down
the most beautiful language
a Book
that stays the same
in all its repeating
that makes the skins
of those who
fear their Liege
shiver
then
their skins and hearts
grow soft
remembering God
that is God's guiding
by which Hu guides
whoever Hu wills
and whoever God leads
to the wrong way
has no guide
what of those who
try to protect themselves
by facing up to
the evil of
the punishment
on the Day of Rising?
it is said
to those who do evil
"Taste now
what you were earning"
those that were before them
called it lies
then the punishment
came upon them
from where
they did not expect
so God let them taste shame
in this present life
and the punishment
of the world to come
is much greater
if they only knew
We have given
in this Reading
all kinds of examples
to humankind
hopefully they will remember
an Arabic Reading
in which is nothing crooked
hopefully they will be
Mindful of God
God has given an example
someone
in whom
quarreling partners
share
and someone
belonging to one person
are the two equal
in their situation?
grateful praise
belongs to God
no
but most of them do not know
you will die
and they will die
then on the Day of Rising
before your Liege
you will make
your arguments
who does greater wrong
than those who
lie about God
and call the truth lies
when they hear it?
is there not in Hellfire
a place to stay
for those who are
ungrateful?
those who come
with the truth
and those who make it clear
are the ones who are
Mindful of God
they shall have
whatever they want
with their Liege
that is the reward
for those who do good
so God may take away
the worst of what they did
and reward them
with the wages of
the best of what they did
will God not be enough
for Hu's servant
though they frighten you
with others
apart from Hu?
and whoever God leads
to the wrong way
has no guide
but whoever God guides
no-one shall lead to
the wrong way
is not God
All-Powerful
the Taker-of-Revenge?
if you ask them
"Who created
the heavens and the earth?"
they will say
"God"
say
"What do you think?
what you call on
apart from God
if God chooses to harm me
will they
take away Hu's harm?
or if Hu wants mercy for me
will they
keep back Hu's mercy?"
say
"God is enough for me
all those who really trust
put their trust in Hu"
say
"My people
do whatever you can
and so will I
and soon you will know
who will receive
punishment
shaming them
and who will bring down
upon themselves
punishment
that lasts forever"
surely We have
sent down on you
the Book
for humankind
with the truth
whoever is guided
is only guided
to their own gain
and whoever takes
the wrong way
it is only to their own loss
you are not a guardian
over them
God takes the souls
at the time of their death
and takes those
who have not died
while they are sleeping
Hu keeps back the one
for whom
Hu has ordered death
but lets loose the other
until a decided time
surely in that are Signs
for a people who think
or have they taken
others to plead for them
apart from God?
say
"What
even though they have
no power at all
and no understanding?"
say
"To God belongs
all pleading
Hu's is the realm
of the heavens and the earth
and to Hu
you will be returned"
whenever God is mentioned
alone
there is a shaking
in the hearts of those
who do not believe
in the world to come
but when others
are mentioned
apart from Hu
they jump for joy
say
"O God
Hu brought into being
the heavens and the earth
Hu knows
the unseen and the visible
You shall judge
between your servants
concerning the things
over which they disagree"
if those who do evil
owned all that is in the earth
and the like of it with it
they would offer it
to ransom themselves
from the evil of
the punishment
on the Day of Rising
there will appear to them
from God
what they were
not expecting
and there will
appear to them
the evil
of what they have done
and they will be
overwhelmed
by what they made fun of
when harm visits humans
they call out to Us
then when We give them
a blessing from Us
they say
"I was given it
only because of
what I knew"
no
it is a trial
but most of them do not know
that was said by those
that went before them
but what they earned
did not help them
the evil that they earned
caught up with them
and those who do evil
amongst these
will also be struck by
the evils of what they earned
they will not be able
to hold it back
do they know that God
spreads out and holds back
Hu's providing
to whoever Hu wills?
surely in that are Signs
for a people who believe
say
"O My servants
who have
harmed yourselves
with excess
do not give up on
God's mercy
surely God forgives
bad deeds
surely Hu is
the Most-Forgiving
the Ever-Merciful
turn to your Liege
and surrender to Hu
before the punishment
comes upon you
then you will not be helped
and follow the fairest
of what has been
sent down to you
from your Liege
before the punishment
comes upon you
suddenly
while you are unaware"
in case someone has to say
"Alas for me
I did not do my duty to God
and made fun of it"
or else they say
"If only God had guided me
I would have been
Mindful of God"
or else they say
when they see
the punishment
"If only I could go back again
and be among
those who do good"
no indeed
My Signs came to you
but you called them lies
and you have grown proud
and become one of
those who are
ungrateful"
and on the Day of Rising
you will see those
who told lies against God
their faces charred black
is there not in Hellfire
a place to stay
for those who are proud?
but God will rescue
those who were
Mindful of God
to safety
evil will not visit them
nor will they sorrow
God is the Creator
of everything
Hu is Guardian
over everything
to Hu belongs the keys
of the heavens and the earth
and those who are
ungrateful
before the Signs of God
they are the losers
say
"Is it other than God
that you tell me to serve
you ignorant people?"
it has been revealed to you
and to those before you
if you make partners
of other gods with God
your work will surely fail
and you will be
among the losers"
no
serve God
and be among the thankful
they do not measure God
with Hu's true measure
the whole earth will be
a handful for Hu
on the Day of Rising
and the heavens
will be rolled up
in Hu's right hand
Glory be to Hu
Hu is high above
what they set up
as partners to Hu
for the Trumpet
shall be blown
and whoever
is in the heavens
and whoever
is in the earth
will fall unconscious
except whoever God wills
then it will be
blown again
and there they shall stand
looking
and the earth will shine
with the light of its Liege
and the Book
will be set in place
and the Newsbringers
and witnesses
will be brought
and the matter
will be decided
justly between them
and they will not
be wronged
every soul will be paid in full
for what it has done
and Hu knows very well
what they do
then those who are
ungrateful
will be driven into
Hellfire
in crowds
until
when they get there
its gates will be opened
and its keepers
will say to them
"Did not Messengers
come to you
from among yourselves
telling you
the Signs of your Liege
and warning you
against the meeting
on this your day?"
they will say
"Yes indeed
but the judgement
of the punishment
has come about
against those who are
ungrateful"
it will be said
"Enter the gates of Hell
to live in there forever"
how evil is the home
of those who are proud
then those who were
Mindful of their Liege
will be driven into
the Garden
in crowds
when they get there
its gates will be opened
and its keepers
will say to them
"Peace be upon you
you have done well
come in
to live forever"
and they will say
"Grateful praise
belongs to God
Hu has kept
Hu's promise to us
and has given us this land
letting us live in the Garden
wherever we wish"
how excellent is the reward
of those who work
and you will see the Angels
circling around the Throne
singing the praises
of their Liege
and all will be decided
between them
in truth
and it will be said
"Grateful praise
belongs to God
the Liege of
all the worlds"
