the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
he frowned
and turned away
when the blind man
came to him
but what would show you?
perhaps he would
purify himself
or be reminded
and the Reminder
be of use to him
but the one who thinks
he takes care of himself
to him
you give attention
though it is not up to you
if he does not purify himself
and the one who
comes to you eagerly
and in fear
to him
you pay no attention
no indeed
it is a Reminder
and whoever wills
shall remember it
on generous pages
raised up
made pure
from the hands of
writers
noble and just
alas for humans
how ungrateful they are
from what
did Hu make them
from a drop of liquid
Hu created them
and gave them shape
then Hu makes the way
easy for them
then makes them die
and buries them
then when Hu wills
Hu raises them
no indeed
they have not done
what they were told
let humans
think of their food
We pour down
plentiful rain
then We make the earth
split open
then We make
the grains grow in it
and vines and reeds
and olives and palms
and gardens with trees
and fruits and pastures
for you
and your livestock
to enjoy
and when the Blast sounds
on the day when people
run away from
their siblings
their mothers and fathers
their partners and children
on that day
everyone will have
concerns of their own
on that day
some faces will shine
laughing
full of joy
on that day
some faces will be dusty
covered in darkness
those are the ones
who are ungrateful
