Written for Insight but never used, this was me trying to get the young muslims to try their hands at writing some Islamic rap. Unfortunately they mostly seemed to consider my efforts as laughable, and not an example to follow. Nowadays of course there there are hundreds of examples of young muslims writing religio-rap, but at the time those around me seemed to find it somewhat outlandish. But it's just words, so if anyone wants to turn them into a Scottish folk-song, rock and roll or country and western, I will be intrigued to hear the outcome.

Brothers and Sisters - lend an ear

            Just a few choice words about Allah - that's Who.
There's a chorus - you can join in

            Alone and has no partner.

            Who ends it all with an order.

Allah! - that's Who - Allah's the One.

Who made everything out of nothing.
            Who is like nothing that can be made.
Who is self-existing.
            Who is without any need.

            The seer, hearer, knower.
Whose is the Will behind everything.
            Whose is the only Power.
Who is needed by all that exists.
