Technologies

You know, human technology is all about them getting what they need from the world around them.

They interact with their surroundings to see how they can get what they need from it.

They need food and drink,

air to breathe,

stuff to keep them warm and dry,

and a safe place to sleep,

and all of the rest is mostly toys of one kind or another,

things they might like and want, but don't really need.

God made the world around them to provide for them, for all their needs.

If they get hungry they can find food,

and if they get sick they can find medicines.

But they have to be ready to make the effort to look for what they need.

And because it takes an effort, it's a good idea if they work out what they really need

so that they can deal with the most important things first.

So then they have to look to see what's around them that can help them get what they want,

resources,

stuff they can use,

fruit to eat, milk to drink,

wood and stone to make shelters.

And some resources take more effort than others,

whether they are high in the sky,

or deep in the sea,

or under the ground.

They can be heavy or slippery, or common or rare,

and sometimes they have to first use their resources to make tools,

things they make from stuff to be able to do things with different stuff,

axes to chop trees to make boats,

and nets and spears to catch fish.

Some resources still need things to be done to them before they are useful.

You can eat an apple picked straight off of the tree,

and you can eat a carrot straight out of the ground

after a quick wash,

but the potato right next to it will taste much better cooked,

as do lots of other things.

So they put things through different processes to change them

and make them useful in different ways.

And sometimes they change things just to make them more beautiful or attractive.

They make them and shape them using different tools and processes,

and sometimes to make what they want they use all sorts of tools one after another.

And sometimes to make what they want they make giant complicated machines.

And sometimes they make their complicated machines much smaller, such as phone sized.

But from low-tec sticks and stones for houses,

to high-tec phones and computers,

it's all technology
