Now we know that when God made humankind

they were given a special way to see the world,

and a special way that they could act.

They were given the ability to see things as good or bad,

and the ability when they are doing things to choose between the two,

between right actions and wrong actions.

But if we are to be able to choose

between good and bad, right and wrong,

that means we have to be able to tell the difference between them,

to recognise which is which,

and that is not always easy.

From the time we are babies we have to learn what we mean

when we say things are good or bad.

And people will disagree about these things,

just as humans will disagree about almost anything.

But doing good is just trying to do what God wants for us,

knowing that Allah knows what is best for us.

And muslims are lucky enough to have the words of God to guide us,

the Qur'an,

the Message for humankind that was given to Muhammad the Messenger.

Now there are people in this world who do terrible things,

that hurt other people,

but still say that what they are doing is good,

and some even say they are doing these things because they are a part of Islam.

So how can we tell if what they say is true

or if they don't know what they are talking about?

How can we know who to trust?

Well, as with everything in life, we have to know who to trust.

When we are little we learn not to trust strangers

because we still haven't learned how to judge whether they want to do us harm,

and even when we get older we can still be fooled and cheated

if we aren't careful.

We may have learned the difference between good and bad,

but we still need to learn who we can trust.

We may know that what God wants is best for humankind,

but to know what God wants we need to study the meaning of Allah's Message,

the Qur'an,

and look to the example of God's Messenger.

And in the Qur'an we are told that

Muhammad was sent only as a Mercy to the world.

So there is a place to begin.

We can trust that the Will of Allah,

what is good,

will have Mercy at its heart.
