Wrong
Actions

You know humans have a lot of problems

trying to understand what is good and what is bad,

and baby humans need to be taught to tell the difference.

It's because humans have this strange way about them,

that often things that are bad for them seem good to them,

which means that they often choose to do bad actions

rather than good ones.

Which means that they often choose to do things that hurt themselves

as well as other people.

So baby humans need to be taught not to act in a way that can be called Bad Behaviour,

and there are all sorts of Wrong Actions that are Bad Behaviour.

And living in the Deen means avoiding Bad Behaviour,

not only when we are with other people

but also when it seems like we are alone.

Though of course we are never really alone,

as God is with us always,

and although we may not be able to see God,

God sees us and what we are doing all the time.

Now this Way of Acting

that avoids Bad Behaviour towards other people

is often called our Adab,

which is an Arabic word that means Good Manners.

But Adab and the Deen are not just about avoiding the Wrong Actions of Bad Behaviour.

What makes things more complicated is that Wrong Actions can be not only things that we do,

but also things that we don't do.

Like when a parent or teacher

or someone who cares for a little human

tells them it is important for them to do something,

and they just don't bother.

They may not have done anything

except nothing,

but it's still a Wrong Action and Bad Behaviour.

From the time that they are babies people have to learn

that something that tastes bad may be a medicine that will do them good.

And they also have to learn that there are times when

someone else knows what is good for them

better than they do themselves.

Which means they need to learn to recognise the ones who care for them,

the ones they can trust.

What sort of things do we know are Wrong Actions?
