belongs to God
Hu created
the heavens and the earth
and made
darkness and light
yet those who are
ungrateful
make others
equal to their Liege
it is Hu created you

then decided a time
and a time is set with Hu
but after that
you doubt
Hu is God
in the heavens
and the earth
Hu knows your secrets
and what you show
and Hu knows
what you deserve
not one Sign
of the Signs of their Liege
comes to them
without them
turning away from it
they said the truth was lies
when it came to them
but there will come to them
news of what
they were making fun of
have they not seen
how many generations
We destroyed
before them?
We made them strong
upon the earth
in a way that
We never made you
and We opened the heavens
and sent down heavy rain
and made the rivers
flow beneath them
then We destroyed them
because of their bad deeds
and raised up after them
another generation
if We had sent down to you
a Book on parchment
so they could touch it
with their hands
still the ungrateful
would have said
"This is clearly only magic"
they say
"Why has an Angel
not been sent down to him?"
but if We had
sent down an Angel
their sentence
would have been decided
and no let up
would be given to them
and if We had
made it an Angel
We would still have
made it a human
and confused for them
the thing that
they themselves
were confusing
Messengers were indeed
made fun of before you
but those who
made fun of them
were swallowed up
by what they
made fun of
say
"Journey in the land
then see
how was the end
of those that called it lies"
say
"To whom belongs
what is in the heavens
and in the earth?"
say
"It is God's"
Hu has written
that Hu will show mercy
Hu will surely gather you
to the Day of Rising
of which there is no doubt
those who have
lost their souls
do not believe
and to Hu belongs
whatever lives
in the night and the day
and Hu is
the All-Hearing

set up partners
with God
"Where are the partners
you were talking about?"
then they shall have
no answer
except to say
"By God our Liege
we never
gave partners
to You"
see how they lie
against themselves
and how
what they invented
is not there for them
and there are some of them
that listen to you
and We put veils
over their hearts
so they do not
understand it
and heaviness
in their ears
and if they see
any Sign at all
they do not
believe in it
so when they come to you
they argue with you
and those who are
ungrateful
say
"This is nothing
but fairy tales
of the people of long ago"
and they forbid it
and keep well away from it
and it is only themselves
that they destroy
but they are not aware
if you could see them
when they are placed
before the Fire
and they say
"If only we
could be sent back
and then not call
the Signs of our Liege
lies
so that we might be
among the believers"
no
it is just that
what they were hiding before
has now been shown to them
and even if
they were sent back again
they would again
do the things
that they were
not supposed to do
truly they are liars
and they say
"There is only this life
we will not be raised"
if you could see
when they are standing
before their Liege
Hu will say
"Is this not the truth?"
they will say
"Yes indeed by our Liege"
Hu will say
"Then taste the punishment
for being ungrateful"
indeed they are lost
those who say that
the meeting with God
is lies
so that when the Hour
comes to them suddenly
they will say
"Alas for us
that we ignored it"
they will carry heavy loads
upon their backs
how evil are
the loads they bear
the present life
is nothing but
a game
and a distraction
surely a home in the Afterlife
is better for those who are
Mindful of God
do you not understand?
indeed We know
that the things they say
hurt you
but it is not you
they are calling a liar
the wicked ones deny
the Signs of God
indeed Messengers
were called liars
before you
but they stayed patient
while they were called liars
and were hurt
until Our help came to them
no-one can change
the Words of God
and there has
already come to you
some news of
other Messengers
and if their turning away
is hurtful for you
then look for
a hole in the earth
if you can
or a ladder to heaven
to bring them some Sign
but if God had willed
Hu would have
gathered them
to be guided
so do not be
one of the ignorant
only those who hear
will answer
as for the dead
God will raise them up
then to Hu
they will be returned
they also say
"Why has no Sign
been sent down to him
from his Liege?"
say
"Surely God can
send down a Sign"
but most of them
do not know
there is no creature
crawling on the earth
and no bird
flying with its wings
who are not communities
like yourselves
We have not
left out anything
in the Book
and to their Liege
they will be gathered
and those who
call Our Signs lies
are deaf and dumb
living in the shadows
whoever God wills
Hu leads to take
the wrong way
and whoever Hu wills
Hu puts them on
a straight path
say
"What do you think?
if God's punishment
comes upon you
or the Hour
comes upon you
will you call upon
anyone other than God
if you are being truthful?"

you will call on Hu
and Hu will take away
whatever was
the reason for your call
if Hu wills
and you will forget
what you set up
as partners with Hu
indeed We sent
to communities before you
and We seized them
with misery and hardship
so that hopefully
they might learn
to be humble
if only they had been
humble
when our strength
came upon them
but their hearts were hard
and Satan made
what they were doing
attractive to them
so when they forgot
what they had been
reminded of
We opened up
the gates to everything
for them
until when they were
happy with what
they had been given
We seized them
suddenly
and they were
filled with despair
so the last remains
of the people
who did wrong
was cut off
grateful praise
belongs to God
the Liege of
all the worlds
say
"What do you think?
if God takes away
your hearing and sight
and sets a seal
upon your hearts
who is a god
other than God
who can
give it back to you?"
see how We change
the Signs around you
but still after that
they turn away
say
"What do you think?
if God's punishment
comes on you
suddenly or openly
shall any be destroyed
except the people
who are unjust?"
We do not send
Messengers
except to bring
good news and warning
whoever believes
and makes things right
no fear will be on them
nor shall they sorrow
but those who
call Our Signs lies
the punishment
will visit them
because they
acted wickedly
say
"I do not say to you
that I have
the treasures of God
I do not know
what is unseen
and I do not say to you
I am an Angel
I only follow
what is shown to me"
say
"Are the blind
and the one who sees
equal?"
will you not
think about it?
and warn
those who are afraid
they will be
gathered to their Liege
they have no protector
apart from Hu
and no-one
to plead for them
hopefully they will be

and do not chase away
those who call upon

at morning and evening

and you have said
it is lies
what you want to hurry
is not within my power
the judging

turn away from them
until they are deep
into some other talk
or if Satan
makes you forget
when you have
remembered
do not sit
with the people
who are unjust
none of
what they owe
falls on those who are
Mindful of God
but remind them
hopefully they will be
Mindful of God
leave alone
those who take
their way of life
as a game
and a distraction
those whom this life
has deceived
remind them
in case a soul
should be destroyed
for what it has done
apart from God
it has no protector
and no one
to plead for it
though it offer
anything in exchange
it will not be
taken from it
those are the ones
who are destroyed
for what they have done
for them is waiting
a drink of boiling water

descendants
David and Solomon
Job and Joseph
Moses and Aaron
that is how
We reward
the good-doers
Zachariah and John
Jesus and Elias
each was one of
the good-doers
Ishmael and Elisha
Jonah and Lot
each one
We favoured
over all of the worlds
and from among
their families from before
and those that came after
and their siblings
We chose them
and We guided them
to a straight path
that is God's guiding
Hu guides by it
whoever Hu wills
of Hu's servants
and if they worshipped
other than God
nothing they did
would be of any use
those are the ones
to whom We gave
the Book
the Judgement
the Newsbringers
so if these people
are ungrateful for them
We have already
given it in trust
to a people
who will never
be ungrateful
those are the ones
whom God has guided
so follow their guiding
say
"I ask of you
no wage for this
it is just a Reminder
to all the worlds"
they did not measure God
with Hu's true measure
when they said
"God has not
sent down anything
to any human"

"Who sent down the Book
that Moses brought
as a light and a guide
for humankind?
you put it down on
sheets of parchment
to display it
but hiding much
and you were taught
what you did not know
you and those before you"

We have sent down
blessed

when nothing
has been revealed
to them

if you could only see
when the wicked are in
the agonies of death
and the Angels
are stretching out
their hands
saying
"Give up your souls
today you will
have your payment
by the punishment
of shame
for the lies you told
against God
full of pride
against Hu's Signs"
now you come to Us
all alone
as We created you
the first time
and you have left behind
what We gave to you
We do not see anyone
to plead on your behalf
those you said were
your partners with God
the ties between you
have been cut
what you imagined
has gone astray
it is God
Hu splits the grain
and the date stone

We have made the Signs

for people who know

then a living place
then a place of rest
We have made the Signs

sent down water
out of heaven
and by it brought out
the shoot of every plant
and then
We have brought out
the green leaf of it
bringing out
close packed seeds
and out of
the palm tree
from its grip
thick clusters of dates
within reach
and gardens of grape vines
and olives
and pomegranates
each like the other
but different
look at their fruits
as they grow and get ripe
surely in that
are Signs
for people who believe
yet they made the jinn
partners with God
though Hu created them
and they say
with no knowledge
"Hu has
sons and daughters"
Glory be to Hu
far above
what they describe
the Creator of
the heavens and the earth
how would Hu
have a child
when Hu has no partner
and Hu created all things
and Hu has knowledge
of everything?
that is God
your Liege
there is no god
other than Hu
Creator

so serve Hu
for Hu is
the All-Trustworthy
guardian over everything
no eyes can see Hu

have come to you

so they may say

and We have not
put you over them
as keeper

their guardian
do not give abuse
to those false gods
to whom they pray
instead of God
or they will
abuse God in revenge
without knowledge
We have made
the actions
of every people
attractive to them
then to their Liege
they will return
and Hu will tell them
about what they did
they have promised
by God
the most solemn promise
if a Sign comes to them
they will believe it
say
"Signs are only with God"
what will make you realise
that if a Sign did come
they still
would not believe?
We would turn aside
their hearts and their eyes
in the same way
that they did not believe it
the first time
and We shall leave them
determined to be
stubborn
wandering blindly
even though
We had sent down Angels
to them
and the dead had spoken
with them
if We had gathered
against them
everything
in front of them
before their eyes
still they would not
have been the ones
to believe
unless God willed
but most of them
are ignorant
so We have made
for every Newsbringer
an enemy
Satans
of humans and jinn
who use
persuasive words
to each other
so as to deceive
but if your Liege had willed
they would never
have done it
so leave them
to what they are doing
and so that
the hearts of those
who do not believe in
the world to come
may drift towards
what they say
and be pleased by it
and pass on what they
have heard passed on
shall I look for
any judge
other than God?
for it is Hu
sent down to you
the Book
to make things clear
and those to whom
We have given the Book
know it is sent down
from your Liege
with the truth
so do not be one of
those who doubt
the Words of
your Liege
are perfect
in truth and justice
no human
can change Hu's Words

most of the people on earth
they will lead you
to take the wrong way
not the path of God

knows very well
those who go
beyond the limits
give up bad deeds
and bad thoughts
surely those who are bad
will be paid back
what they have earned
and do not eat
what has not had
God's Name said over it
that is leaving
the right way
the Satans
tell their friends
to argue with you
if you obey them
you give partners
to God
is someone who was dead
and We gave them life
and gave them
a light to walk by
among the people
the same as someone
in deep shadows
who cannot
escape from them?
the things they have done
are made attractive
to those who are
ungrateful
and in that way
We have put in every city
powerful people
among the wrong doers
to plot things there
but they only plot
against themselves
and they are not aware
and when
a Sign came to them
they said
"We will not believe
until we are given
the like of what
God's Messengers
were given"
God knows very well
where to put
Hu's Message
and shame in God's sight
will come to those
who do wrong
and a terrible punishment
for what they plotted
whoever
God wants to guide
Hu opens their breast
to surrender
whoever Hu wants
to take the wrong way
Hu makes their breast
narrow and tight
as though they were
trying to climb
up to the sky
so God puts disgrace
on those
who do not believe
this is the path
of your Liege
straight
We have made clear
the Signs
to people who
remember
they have
a peaceful home
with their Liege
and Hu is
their Protector
because of
what they did
on the day when Hu will
gather them all together
"Gathering of jinn
you made many followers
amongst humans"
then their human friends
will say
"Our Liege
we have done well
by each other
and we have reached
the time you chose for us"
Hu will say
"The Fire is your home
to live there forever
unless God wills"
surely your Liege is

so We make
those who do wrong
friends of one another
because of
what they have done
gathering of jinn

from among you

they shall say
"We testify
against ourselves"
they were deceived
by the present life
and they will testify
against themselves
that they had been
ungrateful
that is because
your Liege
would never have
destroyed the cities
unjustly
while those who lived there
were not aware
all have different levels
according to
what they have done
your Liege
does not ignore
the things they do
your Liege is
Rich-beyond-Need
full of mercy
if Hu wills
Hu can take you away
and leave to replace you
whoever Hu wills
just as Hu produced you
from the children
of other people
the thing you are promised
will surely come
you cannot prevent it

"My people
do what you can

and surely you will know
who will have
the best home in the end"
surely the wicked
will not do well
they reserve for God
a share of
the crops and livestock

"We think
this is for God

those they partner with Hu
does not reach God
and what is for God
does not reach

how evil is
the judgement
they make
and so it was
that killing their children
was made to seem good
for many idol worshippers
to destroy them
and confuse
their way of life
for them
had God willed
they would not
have done it
so leave them
to what they do
they say
"These livestock and crops
are holy
no-one shall eat them
except who we want"
so they say
and that
there are animals
on whose backs
you are not allowed to ride
and livestock over which
they will not mention
the Name of God
all that they say
invented against God
Hu will surely
pay them back
for what they were
inventing
and they say
"What is in the bellies
of certain livestock
is only for our men
and forbidden to our wives
but if it is born dead
then they can share in it"
Hu will surely
pay them back
for what they say
surely Hu is
All-Wise
All-Knowing
those who
kill their children
foolishly
without knowledge
and forbid
what God has
provided for them
inventing lies against God
have taken
the wrong way
and are not right guided
it is Hu
produces gardens
some planned
and some wild
with palm trees
and crops with
different fruits
olives and pomegranates
each like the other
but different
eat of their fruits
when they have grown
and pay what is due
on the day of harvest
and do not be wasteful
God does not love
the wasteful
and of the livestock
some for bearing loads
and some for killing
eat of what
God has provided for you
and do not follow
the footsteps of Satan
it is a clear enemy to you
two pairs of sheep
and two of goats
say
"Is it the two males
Hu has forbidden
or the two females?
or what the wombs of
the two females contain?
tell me with knowledge
if you speak truly"
and a pair of camels
and a pair of oxen
say
"Is it the two males
Hu has forbidden
or the two females?
or what the wombs of
the two females contain?
were you there when
God gave you
this instruction?"
who does greater evil
than one who invents
a lie against God
in order to lead
humankind
to take
the wrong way
with no knowledge?
surely God does not guide
the people who do evil
say
"I do not find
in what has been
revealed to me
anything not allowed
to be eaten
except
creatures found dead
flowing blood
and the flesh of pigs
for they are not clean
or something
that has been offered up
to other than God"
but for anyone
who is forced
not wanting
to step over the limits
surely your Liege is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
and to the Jews
We have forbidden
every animal with claws
and We have
forbidden them
the fat of oxen and sheep
except what is on their backs
or their intestines
or what is mixed with bone
so We may repay them
for their insults
surely We speak truly
so if they call you a liar
say
"Your Liege
embraces everything
with mercy"
and Hu's power
will never be turned back
from the people
who do wrong
the idol worshippers
will say
"If God had willed
we would not have been
idol worshippers
nor those before us
nor would we have
forbidden anything"
and like that
the people before them
called it lies
until they tasted
Our power
say
"Have you any knowledge
for you to show to us?
you follow only
imaginings
you are
just guessing"
say
"To God belongs
the final argument
for had Hu willed
Hu would have
guided you all"

"Bring your witnesses
those who testify
that God
has forbidden this"
then if they testify
do not testify with them
and do not follow
the guesses of those
who called Our Signs lies
who do not believe

a Clear Sign
has come to you
from your Liege
and a guide
and a mercy
and who does worse
than the one who
calls God's Signs lies
and turns away from them?
We shall surely repay
those who turn away
from Our Signs
with an
evil punishment
