a Book
We have sent down to you
so you can bring humankind
out of the shadows
into the light
by permission of
their Liege
to the Way of
the All-Powerful
the All-Praiseworthy
to God belongs
what is in the heavens
and what is in the earth
and woe to those who are
ungrateful
theirs is a terrible punishment
those who prefer
the present life
over the world to come
and try to keep people
from God's Way
wanting to make it crooked
they have wandered
far from the Way
and We have not sent
any Messenger
who did not speak
the language of
their people
to make things clear
for them
then God leads
to take the wrong way
whoever Hu wills
and guides
whoever Hu wills
and Hu is
the All-Powerful
the All-Wise
and We sent Moses
with Our Signs
"Bring out your people
from the shadows
into the light
and remind them of
the days of God"
surely in that are Signs
for everyone who is
patient and thankful
and when Moses
said to his people
"Remember
God's blessing on you
when Hu saved you
from Pharaoh's people
who made you suffer
sore hardships
and punishments
killed your sons
and kept your women
alive
and in that was
a mighty trial
from your Liege
and when your Liege said
'If you are thankful
I will give you more
but if you are ungrateful
My punishment is terrible'"
and Moses said
"Even if you are ungrateful
you and all upon the earth
all together
surely God is
Rich-beyond-Need
All-Praiseworthy"
have you not heard
news of those
who came before you
the people of Noah
Ad and Thamood
and of those after them
who are only known by God
their Messengers
came to them
with the Clear Signs
but they put their hands
into their mouths
saying
"We do not believe
in the Message
you have been sent with
and we have doubts
and are suspicious
about what you call us to"
their Messengers said
"Is there any doubt
with regard to God
Hu brought into being
the heavens and the earth
Hu calls you so that
Hu can forgive
your bad deeds
and leave you alone
until your appointed time"
they said
"You are only mortal like us
you want to keep us
from serving
what was served by
our families before us
so bring us
clear authority"
their Messengers said
"We are nothing but mortal
like yourselves
but God shows favour
to whoever Hu wills
of Hu's servants
it is not for us
to bring you an authority
except by God's permission
so let those who believe
put all their trust in God
and why would we not
put our trust in God
when Hu has guided us
to the ways we follow
we will surely stay patient
however you hurt us
so let those who trust
put all their trust in God"
and those who were
ungrateful
said to their Messengers
"We will surely drive you
out of our land
unless you return
to our way of worship"
then their Liege
revealed to them
"We will surely destroy
the wicked
and We will surely make you
live in the land after them
that is for those who
are afraid of meeting Me
and those who
fear My threat"
they asked God to decide
and every stubborn tyrant
was disappointed
Hell waits for them
where they are given
a drink of oozing pus
which they gulp
but can hardly swallow
death will come at them
from every side
but they cannot die
and still beyond them
is a harsh punishment
the works of those who are
ungrateful to their Liege
are like ashes
on which
a strong wind blows
on a blustery day
they have no power over
what they have earned
that is to wander
far astray
have you not seen
that God created
the heavens and the earth
in truth
if Hu wills
Hu can wipe you away
and begin a new creation
that is surely
not difficult
for God
they all go together
to stand before God
and those who were weak
say to those who were proud
"We were your followers
will you not help us
in any way
against the punishment
of God?"
they say
"If God had guided us
we would have guided you
it is the same for us
whether we cannot stand it
or whether we are patient
we have no safe place"
and when it is decided
Satan says
"God surely gave you
a true promise
and I made you a promise
and broke it
because I had
no authority over you
but I called you
and you answered me
so do not blame me
but blame yourselves
I cannot help you
nor can you help me
I did not believe you before
when you took me
as a partner with God"
as for those who are unjust
there is waiting for them
a painful punishment
but as for those who believe
and do good deeds
they will be allowed
to enter gardens
underneath which rivers flow
to live there forever
by permission of their Liege
and their greeting there
will be
"Peace"
have you not seen
how God has given
an example
a good word
is like a good tree
its roots are firm
and its branches
are in heaven
it gives fruit each season
by permission of its Liege
and so God gives examples
to humankind
hopefully
they will remember
and the example
of a bad word
is like a sick tree
uprooted from the earth
with no strength to survive
to those who believe
in a firmly rooted word
God will give firm standing
in the present life
and in the world to come
and God leads
those who do wrong
to take the wrong way
and God does
what Hu wills
have you not seen
those who exchanged
the bounty of God
for being ungrateful
and made their people live
in a home of ruin
Hell
in which they are roasted
what an evil place to stay
and they made others
rivals to God
so they might
lead in the wrong way
not Hu's Way
say
"Take your joy
your final home
will be the Fire"
say to My servants
those who believe
that they make Sala
and give from what
We have given them
secretly or publicly
before a day comes
in which there will be
no trading or befriending
it is God
Hu created
the heavens and the earth
and sent down
out of heaven
water
and by it
Hu brought out
fruits
for your providing
and Hu made of use
the ships
to run upon the sea
at Hu's command
and Hu made of use
the rivers
and Hu made of use
the sun and the moon
set on their ways
and Hu made of use
the night and day
Hu gave you
all you asked for
if you count God's blessing
you will never number it
surely
humans are
unjust and ungrateful
and when Abraham said
"My Liege
make this land safe
and turn me
and my children
away from serving idols
my Liege
they have led many
to take the wrong way
so who follows me is with me
but for those who
rebel against me
You are
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
our Liege
I have settled
some of my family
in a valley with
no crops grown there
by Your Holy House
our Liege
let them make Sala
and make the hearts
of humankind
turn in longing
towards them
and give them fruits
hopefully
they will be thankful
our Liege
You know
what we keep secret
and what we say aloud
from God
nothing at all is hidden
in earth and heaven
grateful praise
belongs to God
who has given me
though I am old
Ishmael and Isaac
surely my Liege
hears my asking
my Liege
make me be someone
who makes Sala
and also my children
our Liege
and hear my asking
our Liege
forgive me
and my parents
and those who believe
on the day when
the reckoning
will happen"
do not think
that God does not know
what those who do wrong
are doing
Hu is only
giving them
a stay
until a day
when eyes shall stare
when they will rush forward
craning their necks
heads up
eyes fixed
empty hearted
and warn humankind
of the day
when the punishment
comes on them
and those who did wrong
will say
"Our Liege
let us off for a little while
and we will answer Your call
and follow the Messengers"
but beforehand
did you not vow
that this end
would never come for you
and you lived in
the places where
those who
wronged themselves
lived before
and it was made clear to you
how We had dealt with them
and We gave you
many examples
they planned their plans
and their planning
was known to God
even if their plan
was to move mountains
so do not think
that God will not
fulfil Hu's promise
to Hu's Messengers
surely God is
the All-Powerful
the Taker-of-Revenge
on the day that the earth
shall be changed to
other than the earth
and the heavens also
and they will appear
before God
the One
the Irresistible
and you shall see
those who did wrong
on that day
chained together
clothed
in tar
their faces
surrounded by
the Fire
in order for God
to pay back every soul
for what it has earned
surely God is
quick at reckoning
this is a Message
to be delivered to
humankind
so they may be warned by it
and so
they may know
that Hu is One God
and so that
those who have minds
will remember
