the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
it is the believers
who are successful
who are humble
when making Sala
who turn away
from idle gossip
who pay Zaka
and guard their
private parts
except from their partners
and those they own
in which case
there is no blame
but whoever looks for
more than that
goes beyond the limit
who honour
their trusts and promises
who safeguard
their Sala
those are the ones
who will inherit
who will inherit
Paradise
living there for ever
We created humans
from pure essence of clay
then We set it
in a drop of liquid
in a place of safety
then We made of the drop
a blood clot
then We made of the clot
a lump
then We made of the lump
bones
then We clothed the bones
in flesh
which after that
We brought into being
as another creature
so blessed be God
the best of creators
then after that
you will surely die
then on the Day of Rising
you will surely be
raised up
and We created above you
seven levels
and We were not unaware
of the creation
and We sent down water
out of heaven
and settled it
in the earth
and We are able
to take it away
then with that
We made for you
gardens
of palms and vines
in which are
many fruits for you
and of them you eat
and a tree
growing out of Mount Sinai
that gives oil
and flavouring
for the food you eat
and in your livestock
there is a lesson for you
We give you to drink
from what is in their bellies
and there are many ways
in which you can use them
and some of them you eat
and on them
and on ships
you are carried
and We sent Noah
to his people
and he said
"O my people
serve God
you have no god
apart from Hu
will you not be
Mindful of God?"
but the ruling circle
of those of his people
who were ungrateful
said
"This is nothing but
a mortal
like yourselves
who wants to be
in charge of you
if God willed
Hu would have
sent down Angels
we never heard of this
from our families before us
the people of long ago
he is nothing but
a man possessed
so wait
to see what happens
for a while"
he said
"O my Liege
help me
for they call me a liar"
then We said to him
"Make the Ark
while We look
as We instruct you
and then
when Our command comes
and water boils
up out of the earth
place in it
two of every kind
and your family
except for those
against whom
the Word has been spoken
and do not talk to Me
about the wicked
they will be drowned
then when you
and those with you
are settled in the Ark
say
"Grateful praise
belongs to God
Hu has rescued us
from those who do wrong"
and say
"O my Liege
bring me to harbour
in a blessed harbour
for You are
the best of those
who harbour"
surely
in that are Signs
and surely
We put people to the test
then after them
We raised up
another generation
and We sent
a Messenger to them
from among themselves
saying
"Serve God
you have no god
apart from Hu
will you not be
Mindful of God?"
but the ruling circle
of those people
who were ungrateful
who said that
the meeting in
the world to come
was lies
to whom We had given
ease and plenty
in this present life
said
"This is nothing but
a mortal like yourselves
who eats what you eat
and drinks what you drink
if you obey
a mortal like yourselves
then you will be
the losers
does he promise you
that when you are dead
and become
dust and bones
you will be
brought back again?
away
away with
what you are promised
there is nothing but
our present life
we die and we live
and we will not be
brought back again

one after another

came to a people
they called them liars
but still We made them
follow one another
and turned them into
no more than stories
so away with
those who do not believe
then We sent Moses
and his brother Aaron
with Our Signs
and a clear authority
to Pharaoh
and his ruling circle
but they were proud
an arrogant people
and they said
"Should we believe
two mortals like ourselves
whose people
are our servants?"
so they called them liars
and so they were destroyed
and We gave to Moses
the Book
so that
they might be guided
and We made Mary's son
and his mother
to be a Sign
and gave them shelter
on a hillside
where there was
a meadow
and a flowing spring
"O Messengers
eat of the good things
and do what is right
I know
the things you do
surely
your people
are one people
and I am your Liege
so be Mindful of Me"
but they split apart
and divided into sects
each group rejoicing
in what was theirs
so leave them
in their confusion
for a while
do they imagine
that with their
wealth and children
We are helping them?
that We are only eager
to provide them
with good things?
surely
they have no idea
surely
those who tremble
in fear of their Liege
and those who believe
in the Signs of their Liege
and those who partner
no other with their Liege
and those who give
what they give
their hearts fearful
at the thought of
returning to their Liege
those who compete
in doing good deeds
the first to do them
We do not weigh down
any soul
beyond what it can bear
and with Us is a Book
speaking truth
they will not be wronged
but their hearts
are in confusion
concerning this
and they have
other things
that they are doing
until
when We seize them
with the punishment
see the ones that
are living comfortably
how they suddenly pray
"Do not pray now
today you will not
get help from Us
My Signs were told to you
and you turned away
on your heels
being arrogant
and talking nonsense
all night long"
have they not thought
about these words
has there come to them
anything that did not come
to their families
from before them
the people of long ago?
or do they not recognise
their Messenger
and so they deny him
or do they say
"He is possessed"?

he has brought them
the truth
but most of them
do not like the truth
if the truth were to follow
what they desire
the heavens and the earth
and whoever is in them
would have been
brought to ruin

We brought them
their Reminder
but from their Reminder
they turned away
are you asking them
for payment?
the payment
from your Liege
is better
and Hu is
the Best of Providers
you are calling them
to a straight path
and those that
do not believe
in the world to come
are going astray
from the path
if We did
have mercy on them
and took away
the harm
which is on them
they would still
carry on stubbornly
with no respect
wandering blindly
We already seized them
with the punishment
but they would not
give in to their Liege
and would not be humble
until
when We opened up for them
a doorway to
a terrible punishment
in which they are
crushed and hopeless
it is Hu gave you
hearing
and eyes
and hearts
little thanks you show
it is Hu that
scattered you on the earth
and to Hu
you will be gathered
it is Hu gives life
and makes to die
and to Hu belongs
the changing night and day
will you not understand?

they just say things
the people before them said

they will say

will you not be
Mindful of God?"
say
"Whose hand
has control
over everything
giving protection
and from which
no one can be protected
do you know?"
they will say
"God's"
say
"Then how are you
bewitched?"

We brought them the truth
and they are truly liars
God has no son
nor is there
any god with Hu
for then each god
would have gone off
with what it created
and some would have
risen up over others
glory be to God
beyond what they describe
Hu knows
the unseen and the visible
may Hu be highly praised
far above what they
partner with Hu
say
"My Liege
if You show me
what they are promised
My Liege
do not put me
among the people
who do wrong"
certainly
We can show you
what We promise them
so drive off evil
with what is fair and good
We know very well
what they are saying
say
"My Liege
I take shelter with You
from the evil suggestions
of the Satans
and
I take shelter with you
My Liege
that they may not
come near me"
until
when death comes
to one of them
they say
"My Liege
send me back again
perhaps
I can do good
to make up for
what I did not do before"

it is just words they speak
and behind them
is a barrier
until the day that they
are raised up
for when the Trumpet is blown
that day
the ties between them
will be as nothing
nor will they ask about
each other
those whose scales are
heavy
they are the successful
those whose scales are
light
they have lost themselves
to Hell
to live there forever
the Fire
will scorch their faces
while their mouths
twist with pain
"What
were My Signs
not spoken to you
and you called them lies?"
they shall say
"Our Liege
our bad luck
overwhelmed us
so we were a people
who took the wrong way
our Liege
take us back out of this
then if we go back
to our old ways
we will really be
evil people"
Hu shall say
"Slink away into it
and do not speak"
there is a group of
My servants
who said
"Our Liege
we believe
so forgive us
and have mercy on us
for You are
the best of the merciful"
but you made
a laughing stock
of them
until
that made you forget
to remember Me
while you were
mocking them
now today
I have rewarded them
for being patient and strong
they are the ones
who are the winners"
Hu shall say
"How many years
were you on the earth?"
they shall say
"We stayed there just a day
or part of a day
ask the ones who count"
Hu shall say
"You only stayed there
for a very little while
if only you knew
what
did you think
that We created you
for amusement
and that you would not
be returned to Us?"
the highest of praises
are for God
the Monarch
the Truth
there is no god
apart from Hu
the Liege of
the Noble Throne
and whoever calls out
to another god with God
something for which
they can have no proof
their reckoning
is with their Liege
surely
those who are ungrateful
will have no success
say
"My Liege
forgive
and have mercy
for You are
the best of the merciful"
