the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
Alif Lam Mim
do humankind think
that they will be left
to say
"We believe"
and will not be
tested?
We tested those before them
and God knows
those who speak the truth
and Hu knows
those who lie
or do they think
those who do evil
that they can escape Us?
how badly they judge
whoever wants
to meet with God
God's time is coming
Hu is
the All-Hearing
the All-Knowing
whoever struggles
struggles only
to their own gain
God is Rich
beyond all being
and those who believe
and do good deeds
We will surely forgive them
what they have done wrong
and will reward them for
the best
of what they did
We have told humans
they must be kind
to their parents
but if they struggle with you
to make you partner
other gods with Me
about which
you have no knowledge
then do not obey them
to Me you shall return
and I shall
tell you about
what you did
and those who believe
and do good deeds
We will let them enter
among those
who do good
there are some who say
"We believe in God"
but when they are hurt
in God's cause
they treat
what comes from people
as if it was
God's punishment
then if help comes
from your Liege
they say
"We were with you"
does God not know best
what is in the breast
of every being?
God surely knows
those who believe
and Hu knows
those who pretend
those who are
ungrateful
say to those who
believe
"Follow our way
and let us carry
the guilt
of your mistakes"
but they cannot
carry anything
even the weight
of their own mistakes
they are truly liars
they shall certainly
carry their loads
and other loads
as well as their loads
on the Day of Rising
they will surely
be questioned
about what
they were doing
indeed
we sent Noah to his people
and he lived among them
a thousand years
all but fifty
and the Flood seized them
while they were
doing wrong
but We rescued him
and those who were
in the ship
and made it to be
a Sign for all beings
and Abraham
when he said
to his people
"Serve God
and be
Mindful of God
that is better for you
if you did but know
you only serve
apart from God
idols
you are inventing a lie
those you serve
apart from God
have no power
to provide for you
so look for
your providing
from God
and serve Hu
and be
thankful to Hu
to Hu
you will return
but if you call me a liar
people called this lies
before you
and the Messenger
only needs to deliver
the clear Message"
have they not seen
how God begins creation
then brings it back again?
that is an easy task for God
say
"Journey in the land
and look at how
Hu began the creation
then afterwards
God makes it grow
God is
powerful
over everything
punishing
whoever Hu wills
and having mercy on
whoever Hu wills
and to Hu
you will return"
you cannot escape Hu
in the earth or in heaven
and apart from God
you do not have
a protector
or helper
and those who do not
believe in God's Signs
and the meeting with Hu
they give up on
My mercy
so there waits for them
a painful punishment
but the only answer
from his people
was that they said
"Kill him
or burn him"
then God rescued him
from the fire
surely in that are Signs
for people who believe
he said
"You have only taken idols
apart from God
as a mark of
love between you
in this present life
then
on the Day of Rising
you will
deny one another
and you will
curse one another
and your safe place
will be the Fire
and you will have
no helpers"
but Lot believed him
and he said
"I will leave this place
for my Liege
Hu is
the All-Powerful
the All-Wise"
and We gave him
Isaac and Jacob
and We decided that
his family after him
would have
Newsbringers
and the Book
We gave him
his reward
in this world
and in
the world to come
he will be
among the good doers
and when Lot
said to his people
"Surely you do
such filthy things
that no people
in the world
has done them
before you
do you abuse men
you capture on the road
and commit shameful acts
in your gatherings?"
but the only answer
from his people
was that they said
"Then bring us
the punishment
from God
if you are telling the truth"
he said
"My Liege
help me
against the people
who spread sickness"
and when
Our Messengers
came to Abraham
with the good news
they said
"We shall destroy
the people of this city
because its people
do evil things"
he said
"Lot is in it"
they said
"We know very well
who is in it
certainly
we will save him
and his family
except his wife
she will be one of those
who stay behind"
and when Our messengers
came to Lot
he was upset for them
but felt that
he could not help them
they said
"Do not be afraid
or feel sorry
we will surely save
you and your family
except your wife
she will be one of those
who stay behind
we shall send down upon
the people of this city
anger out of heaven
for their sickness"
We have left
a Clear Sign of them
for a people
who understand
and to Midian
their brother Shuaib said
"O my people
serve God
and look towards
the Last Day
and do not be
unjust
in the land
and do not
spread sickness"
but they called him a liar
so the earthquake
seized them
and the morning
found them fallen
crushed flat
in their homes
and Ad and Thamood
it should all be clear to you
from the places
where they lived
and Satan
made what they did
seem attractive to them
and barred them
from the Way
even though
they saw clearly
and Korah
and Pharaoh
and Haman
Moses came to them
with Clear Signs
but they grew proud
in the earth
but they could not
escape Us
each of them
We seized for their sins
and against some of them
We set loose a hail of stones
and some were seized
by the Cry
and some We caused
the earth to swallow
and some We drowned
God would never
do wrong to them
but they did wrong
to themselves
those who have taken
protectors
other than God
are like the spider
that makes itself
a house
and surely
the weakest of houses
is the house of the spider
if they only knew
God knows
whatever it is
that they call to
apart from Hu
Hu is
the All-Powerful
the All-Wise
and those comparisons
We make for humankind
no one understands them
except those who know
God created
the heavens and the earth
with truth
surely in that is a Sign
for those who believe
recite what has been
revealed to you
from the Book
and make the Sala
Sala prevents
filth and shame
to remember God
is greater
and God knows
the things you do
do not argue with
the People of the Book
except in the kindest way
apart from those of them
who do wrong
and say
"We believe in
what has been
sent down to us
and what has been
sent down to you
our God and your God
is One
and to Hu we have
surrendered"
so We have sent down
the Book to you
and those to whom
We have given the Book
believe in it
and no-one
refuses to recognize
Our Signs
apart from those
who are ungrateful
and you did not
read out
from any Book
before this
or write it out
with your right hand
for if you had
those who choose
to follow lies
would have doubted
no
rather it is Signs
Clear Signs
in the breast of those
who have been given
knowledge
and no-one
refuses to recognize
Our Signs
apart from those
who do evil
they say
"Why have Signs
not been sent down on him
from his Liege?"
say
"The Signs are only
with God
I am only a clear warner"
what
is it not enough for them
that We have
sent down on you
the Book
that is read aloud to them?
surely in that is a mercy
and a Reminder
to people who believe
say
"God is enough of
a witness
between me and you"
Hu knows whatever is in
the heavens and the earth
those who believe in lies
and do not believe in God
they are the losers
and they tell you
to hurry along
the punishment
but if it were not for
a time being
already set by now
the punishment
would have found them
but it will come upon them
suddenly
when they are not
expecting it
and they tell you
to hurry along
the punishment
but Hellfire
already surrounds
those who are
ungrateful
on the day that
the punishment
will overwhelm them
from above them
and from under their feet
and Hu shall say
"Now you taste
what you were doing"
My servants
who believe
surely
My earth is wide
so serve Me
every soul
will taste of death
then to Us
you will be returned
and those who believe
and do good deeds
We will surely give a home
in high chambers
in the Gardens of Paradise
beneath which
rivers flow
to live there forever
and how excellent
is the reward of those
who do good works
those who are patient
and put their trust
in their Liege
think how many
animals there are
that do not carry
what they need
with them
but God provides
for them
and you
Hu is
the All-Hearing
the All-Knowing
if you ask them
"Who created
the heavens and the earth
and set in order
the sun and moon?"
they will say
"God"
how then
are they turned away?
God spreads out
and holds back
whatever Hu provides
to whoever Hu wills
of Hu's servants
God has knowledge of
everything
if you ask them
"Who sends down water
out of heaven
and by it
gives new life
to the earth
after it is dead?"
they will say
"God"
say
"Grateful praise
belongs to God"
but most of them
have no understanding
this present life
is nothing but
an amusement
a game
surely
the final home
is real life
if they only knew
when they set off in ships
they call out to God
and offer their Way of Life
to Hu sincerely
but when Hu
has brought them
safe to land
they partner others with Hu
so they are ungrateful
for what
We have given them
and they take
their enjoyment
but soon they will know
have they not seen
that We have made
a safe holy place
while all around them
people are snatched away?
do they believe in lies
and are they
ungrateful
for God's blessing?
and who does
greater wrong
than the one who
makes up a lie
against God
or calls the truth lies
when it comes to them?
is there not
in Hellfire
a home
for those who are
ungrateful?
but those who struggle
for Our cause
surely
We shall guide them
in Our ways
and God is with
those who do good
