God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
Alif Lam Mim
Rome
has been defeated
in the land nearby
and after their defeat
they will be winners
in a few years
God is in command
before and after
and on that day
those who believe
will show their joy
in God's help
God helps
whoever Hu wills
and Hu is
the All-Powerful
the Ever-Merciful
that is
God's promise
God does not break
Hu's promise
but most people
do not know
they know
an outward side
of the present life
but ignore
the life to come
have they never thought
within themselves?
God did not create
the heavens and the earth
and what is between them
except with the truth
and a set amount of time
yet most people
will not believe
in the meeting with
their Liege
have they never
travelled in the land
and seen
how those before them
came to an end?
those were
stronger than them
more powerful
those ploughed the earth
and planted it more
and built more upon it
than them
and their Messengers
came to them
with the Clear Signs
and God would never
do wrong to them
but they did wrong
to themselves
then the end of those
that did evil
was evil
because they called
the Signs of God
lies
and mocked them
God begins creation
then renews it
then to Hu
you shall be returned
on the day
when the Hour is come
those who do evil
will give up all hope
none of their partner-gods
will plead for them
those partners
will reject them
on the day
when the Hour is come
that day
they will be divided
as for those who believed
and did good deeds
they will walk
with joy
in a green meadow
but as for those who were
ungrateful
and called
Our Signs
and the meeting
in the life to come
lies
they shall be
summoned
to the punishment
so Glory be to God
at time of nightfall
and at morning time
for Hu is all praise
in the heavens and the earth
at evening
and time of mid-day
Hu brings out
the living from the dead
and brings out
the dead from the living
and Hu
brings the earth
back to life
after it was dead
in the same way
that you will be
brought out
and of Hu's Signs
is that Hu created you
from dust
and here you are
mortals
scattered around
and of Hu's Signs
is that Hu created for you
of yourselves
partners
that you might live
at rest with them
and Hu has
set between you
love and mercy
surely in that are Signs
for people who think
and of Hu's Signs
is the creation of
the heavens and the earth
and the variety
of your tongues
and colours
surely in that are Signs
for all beings
and of Hu's Signs
is your sleeping
by night and day
and your searching
for Hu's bounty
surely in that are Signs
for people who hear
and of Hu's Signs
Hu shows you lightning
for fear and hope
and Hu sends down water
out of heaven
and Hu brings
the earth
back to life
after it was dead
surely in that are Signs
for people who understand
and of Hu's Signs
is that the
heaven and earth
stand firm at Hu's order
then when Hu calls you
once
suddenly
out of the earth
you will emerge
to Hu belongs
whatever is in
the heavens and the earth
all obey Hu's will
and it is Hu begins creation
and renews it
and it is very easy for Hu
Hu is
as high as you can imagine
in the heavens and the earth
Hu is
the All-Powerful
the All-Wise
Hu has made for you
an example
from yourselves
do you have
in those you own
partners
in what We have
provided for you
so you are equal
in regard to it
and you fear them
as you fear each other?
We make the Signs clear
for people who understand
but those who do evil
follow their own urges
with no knowledge
so who will guide
those God has led astray?
they have no helpers
so set your face towards
the Way of Life
of a pure believer
God's natural Way
on which Hu began
humankind
there is no changing
God's creation
that is the right Way of Life
but most people do not know
turning towards Hu
and be Mindful of God
and make the Sala
and do not be of those
who give God partners
those who
divide up their way
into separate groups
each group only joyful
about what is theirs
when some harm
visits humankind
they call to their Liege
turning to Hu
then when Hu lets them
taste mercy from Hu
a group of them
set up partners
to their Liege
so that they may be
ungrateful
for what We have given them
"Take your enjoyment
certainly you will soon know"
or have We sent down
any authority for them
which speaks of what
they partner with Hu?
and when We let
humankind
taste mercy
they take joy in it
but if some harm
comes to them
from what they have done
with their own hands
see how
they give up all hope
have they not seen
that God spreads out
and holds back
what Hu gives
to whoever Hu wills?
surely in that are Signs
for people who believe
and give family members
their right
and the poor
and the traveller
that is better
for those who
wish for
God's Face
those are the ones who are
successful
and what you lend
at interest
so that it might increase
what people take as wealth
does not increase with God
but what you give in Zaka
wishing for God's Face
those will receive repayment
many times over
God is Hu
created you
then Hu
provided for you
then Hu
shall make you dead
then Hu
shall give you life
is there any of your
partner-gods
does anything like that?
Glory be to Hu
Hu is praised
high above
their partner-gods
sickness is spreading
in the land and the sea
because of what people
have earned with
their own hands
so Hu may let them
taste some part of
what they have done
so hopefully they might
turn back again
say
"Travel in the land
and look at how
those that were before them
came to an end
most of them
worshipped idols"
so set your face towards
the true Way of Life
before there comes
a day from God
that cannot be
turned back
on that day
they will be
split apart
whoever is ungrateful
their being ungrateful
will be charged
against them
and whoever does
what is right
they are storing up
for themselves
so that Hu can repay
those who believe
and do good deeds
with Hu's favour
Hu does not love
those who are
ungrateful
and of Hu's Signs
is that Hu sets loose
the winds
carrying good news
and so Hu may let you
taste of Hu's mercy
and so that
the ships may run
at Hu's command
and so that
you might search out
Hu's bounty
hopefully
you will be thankful
indeed
We sent before you
Messengers
to their people
and they brought them
the Clear Signs
then We took revenge
on those who did evil
and it is Our duty
to help those who believe
God is Hu
sets loose the winds
that stir up clouds
and Hu spreads them
in heaven
how Hu wills
and breaks them apart
and you see the rain
coming from
the middle of them
and when Hu
strikes with it
whoever Hu wills
of Hu's servants
they are joyful
though before it was
sent down on them
they had given up all hope
so look at
the marks of God's mercy
Hu gave life to the earth
after it was dead
Hu gives life to the dead
and Hu is powerful
over everything
but if We set loose a wind
and they see it
growing yellow
still after that
they stay
ungrateful
you shall not make
the dead hear
nor shall you make
the deaf hear the call
when they turn around
and run away
you will not guide
the blind
out of their error
nor will you
make anyone hear
except for those that
believe in Our Signs
and surrender
God is Hu
created you
in weakness
then Hu made
after weakness
strength
then after strength
Hu made
weakness
and grey hairs
Hu creates
what Hu wills
and Hu is
the All-Knowing
the All-Capable
on the day
when the Hour is come
those who do evil
will swear
that they have not waited
even for an hour
they are so twisted around
but those who
have been given
knowledge and belief
will say
"You have waited
in God's Book
until the Day of Rising
but you did not know"
so on that day
their excuses
will do no good
for those that do evil
nor will they be allowed
to make up
for what they did
We have set for humankind
all manner of examples
in this Reading
and if you bring them
a Sign
those who are
ungrateful
will certainly say
"You only follow falsehood"
in that way
God seals the hearts
of those that do not know
so be patient
surely God's promise is true
and do not let
those who do not believe
upset you
