the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
Ya Sin
by the Wise Reading
truly you are
one of the Messengers
on a straight path
sent down by
the Most-Powerful
the Ever-Merciful
so you may warn a people
whose families
were never warned
so they are unaware
the Word
has been carried out
against most of them
yet they do not believe
We have put iron collars
around their necks
up to the chin
so their heads
are pulled upwards
and We have put
a barrier in front of them
and a barrier behind them
and We have covered them
so they do not see
it is the same to them
if you have warned them
or not warned them
they do not believe
you only warn
those who follow
the Reminder
and who fear
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
in the unseen
so give them
the good news
of forgiveness
and a generous reward
it is We
bring the dead to life
and write down
what they send ahead
and what they leave behind
We have numbered
everything
in a clear register
give an example to them
the companions who
lived in the city
when the Messengers
came to it
when We sent them two
but they called them liars
so We sent a third
to reinforce them
they said
"We are surely
Messengers to you"
they said
"You are nothing but
mortals like us
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
has not sent down
anything
you are only telling lies"
they said
"Our Liege knows
we are Messengers to you
and it is only for us
to deliver
the Clear Message"
they said
"We see an evil omen in you
if you do not stop
we will stone you
and you will get from us
a painful punishment"
they said
"Your evil omen
is in yourselves
if you are made aware
but you are a people
who go too far"
then a man
came running from
the farthest part of the city
he said
"My people
follow the Messengers
follow those
who ask no wage from you
who are right guided
and why would I not serve
Hu brought me into being
and to Hu
you will be returned?
shall I take
apart from Hu
partner-gods
whose help will be
no use to me
if the Fount-of-All-Mercy
wants to cause me harm
and who will
never rescue me?
surely
in that case
I would clearly have
taken the wrong way
see
I believe in your Liege
so hear me"
it was said
"Enter the Garden"
he said
"If only my people knew
that my Liege has
forgiven me
and that Hu has
put me amongst
those who are honoured"
and We did not send down
upon his people after him
an army out of heaven
nor did We need
to send one down
it only took
one shout
and they were
silent and still
alas for those servants
there never comes to them
a Messenger
but they make fun of them
have they not seen
how many peoples
We have destroyed
before them?
and that it is not
to them
that they return?
every one of them
will be brought before Us
and a Sign for them
is the dead land
that We gave life
and brought out from it
grain
of which they eat
and We made in it gardens
of palms and vines
and in them We made
gushing fountains
so they might eat
of its fruits
with no need for
their own efforts
will they not be thankful?
Glory be to Hu
Hu created all the pairs
of what the earth produces
and of themselves
and of what
they do not know
and a Sign for them
is the night
We strip it of the day
and so they are in
darkness
and the sun
runs to its resting place
that is the order of
the All-Powerful
the All-Knowing
and the moon
We have made it
move through phases
until it returns
like a bent old branch
from a palm tree
it is not for the sun
to overtake the moon
or the night
to run away from the day
each is swimming
around a sky
and a Sign for them
is that We carried
their families
in a loaded ship
and We have created
for them
the like of it
on which they sail
and if We wish
We drown them
with no-one to hear their cries
and they are not rescued
except as a mercy from Us
and enjoyment for a while
and when it is said to them
"Be Mindful
of what is before you
and what is behind you
hopefully
you will find mercy"
yet never a Sign
of the Signs of their Liege
comes to them
without their turning
away from it
and when it is said to them
"Spend from that which
God has provided you"
those who are
ungrateful
say to
those who believe
"What
shall we feed someone
when if God willed
Hu would feed them?
you have clearly taken
the wrong way"
they also say
"When will this promise
come to pass
if you speak the truth?"
they are only waiting
for a single shout
to seize them
while they are
still arguing
then they will not be able
to make a will
or return to their families
and the Trumpet
will be blown
then see how
they are sliding down
from their graves
to their Liege
they say
"Alas for us
who woke us up
out of our sleeping place?
this is what
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
promised
and the Messengers
spoke the truth"
it was only a single shout
then
they are all
brought before Us
so today
no soul shall be wronged
in any way
and you will not be repaid
except for what
you have been doing
see those who live
in the Garden today
busy rejoicing
they and their partners
relaxing on couches
in the shade
there they have fruits
and whatever they call for
"Peace"
is the greeting
from a Liege
Ever-Merciful
now you who do evil
keep yourselves apart
on this day
did I not make
an agreement with you
Children of Adam
that you would not
serve Satan
it is a clear enemy to you
and that you should
serve Me?
this is a straight path
it led astray
many crowds of you
did you not understand?
this is Hellfire
just as you were promised
roast in it today
because you were
ungrateful
today We put
a seal on their mouths
and their hands speak to Us
and their feet are witness
concerning what
they have been earning
if We willed
We could have
put out their eyes
then they would
race to the path
but how would they see?
if We willed
We could have
changed them
where they stood
so they could neither go on
nor return
and to whoever
We give long life
We bend their bodies over
do they not understand?
We have not
taught him poetry
that would not be
right for him
it is only a Reminder
and a Clear Reading
so he may warn
whoever lives
and so that the Word
may be fulfilled
against those who are
ungrateful
have they not seen
how We have
created for them
made with Our own hands
livestock that they own?
We have made some of them
tame for them
and some they ride
and some they eat
and other uses
they find in them
and from some they drink
will they not be thankful?
yet they have taken
apart from God
partner-gods
that hopefully
they might help them
they cannot help them
even though
they might have an army
ready to assist them
so do not let
what they say
upset you
surely We know
what they keep secret
and what they say openly
have humans not seen
how We created them
from a drop of liquid?
and now
they fight against Us
and they have made
likenesses for Us
and have forgotten
their own creation
saying
"Who will give the bones life
when they are decayed?"
say
"Hu will give them life
Hu brought them into being
the first time
Hu knows all of creation"
Hu has made for you
out of the green tree
fire
and from it you light
more fire
Hu created
the heavens and the earth
can Hu not create
the like of them?
yes indeed
Hu is
the Creator
the All-Knowing
Hu's command
when Hu wants something
is to say to it
"Be"
and it is
so glory be to Hu
in Hu's hand
is the rule over everything
and to Hu
you will be returned
