the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
Ha Mim
by the Book which
makes things clear
We have made it
an Arabic Reading
hopefully
you will understand
and it is in
the Mother of the Book
with Us
most high and wise
shall We take away
the Reminder
from you
because you are people
with no respect?
how many Newsbringers
We sent to
the people of old
but not a Newsbringer
came to them
without being made fun of
so We destroyed people
with greater power
than they have
the example is there
of the people of old
who have passed away
if you ask them
"Who created
the heavens and the earth?"
they will say
"The All-Powerful
the All-Knowing
created them"
it is Hu made the earth
to be a cradle for you
and made ways for you in it
so that hopefully
you might be guided
and Hu sent down
water out of heaven
according to your needs
and by it gave life to
a land that was dead
and in that way
you also will be
brought out of the grave
and Hu created
all of the pairs
and gave you ships
and the animals you ride
so you may sit
upon their backs
and remember the blessing
from your Liege
and say
"Glory be to Hu
for making this possible for us
we could not have done it
by ourselves
surely
to our Liege
we are turning"
yet they say that
some of Hu's servants
belong to Hu
humans are so clearly
ungrateful
has Hu taken daughters
from what Hu creates
and given you sons?
and when any of them
is given the good news
of the very thing
they have
thought to be like
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
their faces turn dark
and they choke inside
what
someone who is raised
amidst shiny ornaments
but cannot put together
a clear argument?
and they say that
the Angels are female
when they are servants of
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
did they witness
their creation?
what they say is true
will be written down
and they will be questioned
they say
"If the Fount-of-All-Mercy
had willed it
we would not
have served them"
they do not know that
they are only guessing
or did We bring them
a Book before this
which they follow?
no
but they say
"We found our parents
behaving this way
and we are guided
to follow in their footsteps"
even so
We never sent
a warner before you
into any city
without those who had
a life of ease among them
saying
"We found our parents
behaving this way
and we are guided
to follow in their footsteps"
say
"What
even though I bring you
a better guide
than what you found
your parents doing?"
they say
"We do not believe in
what you have
been sent with"
so We took revenge on them
see how the end came
to those who called it lies
and when Abraham said
to his father and his people
"Surely I am finished
with what you serve
except Hu
Hu was my beginning
and Hu will guide me"
and he made it
a word that lasted
among those of his family
who came after him
so that hopefully
they would return
but I gave them
and their parents
enjoyable lives
until the truth came to them
and a clear Messenger
and when the truth
came to them
they said
"This is sorcery
we do not believe in it"
they say
"Why was this Reading
not sent down
to one of the great men
in the two cities?"
is it they who share out
the mercy of your Liege?
We have shared out
their living between them
in the present life
and raised some of them
above others in rank
so that some of them
take others as servants
and the mercy of your Liege
is better than
what they gather
and were it not for the fact
that humankind
would be one people
We would have given
those who reject
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
roofs of silver to their houses
and stairs for them to climb
and doors to their houses
and couches
on which to lie down
and ornaments of gold
surely all this is nothing but
the enjoyment of this life
and the world to come
with your Liege
is for those who are
Mindful of God
whoever closes their eyes
to remembering
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
to them We give Satan
as a friend
and it bars them
from the Way
and they think
they are guided
until
when they come to Us
they say
"If only there had been
between you and me
the distance of the two easts"
an evil friend
it will not help you today
since you did the evil
that you are partners
in the punishment
will you make the deaf hear
or will you guide the blind
and those who are clearly
taking the wrong way?
either We will take you away
and take revenge on them
or We shall let you see
some of what
We promised them
surely We have
power over them
so hold on tight
to what has been
revealed to you
surely you are on
a straight path
surely it is a Reminder
to you and your people
and surely
you will be questioned
ask those of Our Messengers
We sent before you
have We set up gods
to be served
apart from
the Fount-of-All-Mercy?
We also sent Moses
with Our Signs
to Pharaoh and his Council
and he said
"Surely
I am the Messenger of
the Liege of
all the worlds"
but when he brought them
Our Signs
they laughed at them
and We did not
show them a Sign
that was not greater than
the one before it
and We seized them
with punishment
so that hopefully
they would turn back
and they said
"Sorcerer
pray to your Liege for us
by the agreement
Hu has made with you
and surely we will be
rightly guided"
but when We took
the punishment
away from them
they broke their promise
and Pharaoh
said to his people
"O my people
do I not own
the kingdom of Egypt
and these rivers
that flow beneath me?
do you not see?
am I not better than this man
who is worthless
and can barely
make sense of things?
why has he not been given
bracelets of gold
or Angels to come
and join with him?"
so he made his people
unsure
and they obeyed him
surely they were people
who preferred to disobey
so when they had
angered Us
We took revenge on them
and We drowned
every one of them
and We made them
a thing of the past
and We made them
an example
to people who came later
and when the son of Mary
is given as an example
your people laugh and jeer
they say
"Are our gods better
or is he?"
they do not
mention him to you
except to start an argument
they are a people
who like to argue
he is only a servant
that We blessed
and We made him
an example
to the Tribe of Israel
if We wished
We would have put
Angels among you
to inherit the earth
it is knowledge of
the Hour
have no doubt about it
and follow Me
this is a straight path
do not let Satan bar you
it is a clear enemy to you
and when Jesus came
with the Clear Signs
he said
"I have come to you
with wisdom
so that I can
make clear to you
some of what you
disagree over
so be Mindful of God
and obey me
surely God is
my Liege and your Liege
so serve Hu
this is a straight path"
but different groups
from among them
disagreed
so woe to those who did evil
because of the punishment
of a painful day
are they waiting for
something other than
the Hour
that will come on them
suddenly
when they are not aware?
friends on that day
will be enemies
to each other
apart from those who are
Mindful of God
O My servants
today you will feel no fear
nor will you sorrow
as for those who
believed in Our Signs
and had surrendered
enter the Garden
you and your partners
walking in joy
there will be
passed around them
dishes and cups of gold
containing whatever
their hearts desire
and their eyes delight in
and there you will live forever
this is the Garden
that you have been given
to inherit
for the things you did
in it you will have
all kinds of fruits
for you to eat
but those who do evil
will live forever
in the punishment of Hellfire
it will not be made
easy for them
and in it
they will have no hope
We never did wrong to them
but they themselves
did the wrong
and they shall cry out
"O Malik
let your Liege
put an end to us"
it will say
"You will stay
the way you are"
We brought you the truth
but most of you
do not like the truth
or have they plotted
some scheme?
We too are plotting
or do they think
We do not hear their secrets
and what they
scheme together?
indeed Our messengers
are there with them
writing it down
say
"If the Fount-of-All-Mercy
has a son
then I am
the first to serve him"
glory be to the Liege of
the heavens and the earth
the Liege of the Throne
beyond anything
that they can describe
leave them to wade deeper
and to play around
until they meet
that day of theirs
which they are promised
and Hu is
God in heaven
and God in the earth
Hu is
the Wise
the All-Knowing
blessed be Hu
to Hu belongs the Realm of
the heavens and the earth
and all that is between them
with Hu
is the knowledge of the Hour
and to Hu
you shall be returned
those they call upon
apart from Hu
have no power
to beg for anyone
only those who
witness the truth
and have knowledge
if you ask them
"Who created you?"
they will say
"God"
so how are they
turned around?
and as for his saying
"My Liege
surely these are a people
who do not believe"
turn away from them
and say
"Peace"
soon they will know
