By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
God has heard the words of
she who pleads with you
about her husband
and complains to God
God hears the two of you
talking together
surely God is
All-Hearing
All-Seeing
those of you
who say to their wives
"Be as my mother's back"
they are not your mothers
their mothers are only
those who gave them birth
and what they say
is not honourable
and a lie
but surely
God is
the Destroyer-of-Bad-Deeds
Most-Forgiving
as for those
who say to their wives
"Be as my mother's back"
and then take back
what they have said
they must set free a slave
before the two of them
touch one another
with that you are warned
and God is aware
of the things you do
but whoever does not
have enough for this
then let them feed
sixty poor people
so you may believe in
God and Hu's Messenger
those are God's limits
and for those who are
ungrateful
there is waiting
a painful punishment
those who stand against
God and Hu's Messenger
will be overcome
like those before them
were overcome
We have sent down Signs
Clear Signs
and for those who are
ungrateful
there is waiting
a shameful punishment
on the day when
God will raise them up
all together
Hu will tell them
what they did
God has numbered it
and they have forgotten it
God is Witness
over everything
have you not seen
that God knows
whatever is in
the heavens and the earth?
three people do not talk
secretly together
but Hu is
the fourth of them
nor five
but Hu is
the sixth of them
nor fewer than that
nor more than that
but Hu is with them
wherever they are
Hu will tell them
what they have done
on the Day of Rising
surely God has knowledge
of everything
have you not seen
those who were forbidden
to talk together secretly
then they return
to what they were forbidden
and talk together secretly
about doing wrong
and being enemies
and disobeying
the Messenger?
then when they come to you
they greet you with words
that God has never used
in your greeting
and they say
inside themselves
"Why does God
not punish us
for what we say?"
Hellfire will be
enough for them
they will roast in it
an evil homecoming
you who believe
when you talk together
secretly
do not talk
about doing wrong
and being enemies
and disobeying
the Messenger
but talk together
about being good
and being
Mindful of God
and be Mindful of God
to Hu you will be gathered
talking together secretly
is the work of Satan
to cause sadness
for those who believe
but it will not hurt them at all
except with
God's permission
and in God
let those who believe
put all their trust
you who believe
when it is said to you
"Make room in the gathering"
then make room
and God will
make room for you
and when it is said
"Move up"
move up
and God will raise up in rank
those of you who believe
and have been
given knowledge
and God is aware of
the things you do
you who believe
when you come
to talk privately
with the Messenger
before you talk
give an offering
to charity
that is better for you
and more pure
but if you do not
have enough for that
God is
Most-Forgiving
Ever-Merciful
are you afraid
before you meet
to offer charity?
if you do not do so
and God turns again
towards you
then make the Sala
and pay the Zaka
and obey God
and Hu's Messenger
and God is aware of
the things you do
have you not seen
those who have
taken as friends
people against whom
God is angry?
they do not belong to you
nor you belong to them
and know that they swear
on what is not true
God has prepared for them
a terrible punishment
how evil it is
what they have been doing
they have used their oaths
as a cover
and barred from God's Way
so there is waiting for them
a shameful punishment
neither their wealth
nor their children
will help them at all
against God
they are those who
live in the Fire
and live in it forever
on the day when God
will raise them up
all together
and they swear to Hu
as they swear to you
thinking that it will help them
surely they are liars
Satan has gained
ownership of them
and made them forget
to remember God
they are on Satan's side
and surely Satan's side
are the losers
surely those
who stand against
God and Hu's Messenger
are among
the lowest of the low
God has written
"I will be victorious
I and My Messengers"
surely God is
Tireless
All-Powerful
you will not find any people
who believe in God
and the Last Day
who are loving to anyone
who stands against God
and Hu's Messenger
not even if they were
their parents
or their children
or their siblings
or their clan
Hu has written
belief in their hearts
and will strengthen them
with a Spirit from Hu
and Hu will
let them enter gardens
underneath which rivers flow
to live there forever
God is pleased with them
and they are
pleased with Hu
those are on God's side
and surely God's side
is the one that will prosper
