By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
all that is in
the heavens and the earth
glorifies God
Hu is
the All-Powerful
the Wise
Hu drove out of their homes
those who were
ungrateful
among
the People of the Book
at the first gathering
you did not think
they would leave
and they thought
their fortresses
would defend them
against God
then God came upon them
from where
they least expected
and Hu cast terror
into their hearts
as they pulled down
their houses
with their own hands
and the hands of
those who believe
so take warning
you who have sight
if God had not ordered
that they should be banished
Hu would have
punished them in this world
and there is waiting for them
in the world to come
the punishment of the Fire
that is because
they were deeply hostile
to God and Hu's Messenger
and whoever is hostile
to God
God is terrifying
in revenge
whatever palm trees
you cut down
or left standing on their roots
that was by God's leave
so Hu might shame
the wicked
and whatever spoils of war
God has given
to Hu's Messenger
for which
you did not spur
either horse or camel
to win
but God gives authority
to Hu's Messengers
over whoever Hu wills
God is powerful
over everything
and whatever spoils of war
God has given
to Hu's Messenger
from the people of the cities
belongs to God
and to Hu's Messenger
and to near relatives
and to orphans
and to the poor
and to the traveller
so that it is not just a thing
that is shared around
by the rich among you
whatever
the Messenger gives you
take it
and whatever
Hu forbids you
give it up
and be
Mindful of God
God is terrifying
in revenge
it is for the poor
of those who made Hijra
who were driven away
from their homes
and what they owned
wanting only
God's favour
and pleasure
and they stand by
God and Hu's Messenger
those are the truthful ones
and those who were
already living in that home
before them
and also believed
love whoever
has made Hijra to them
and do not find
in their hearts
any need for what
they have been given
and prefer others
to themselves
even though they are poor
and those who are protected
from being mean
inside themselves
those are the successful
and as for those
who came after them
they say
"Our Liege
forgive us
and our siblings
who believed before us
and do not put
in our hearts
any grudge against
those who believe
our Liege
surely You are
the Forgiving-by-Nature
the Ever-Merciful"
have you not seen
those who pretend to believe
saying to their like amongst
the People of the Book
who are ungrateful
"If you are driven away
we will go away with you
and we will never
obey anyone against you
and if you are fought against
we will help you"
and God bears witness
that they are truly liars
if those are driven away
they will not
go away with them
and if those are attacked
they will not help them
even if they did help them
they would only
turn their backs
so then
they would not be helped
you are
a greater cause of
fear in their hearts
than God
that is because
they are a people
who do not understand
they will not
fight against you
all together
except in city forts
or from behind high walls
their urge to fight is strong
amongst themselves
you think they are united
but their hearts are divided
that is because they are
a people with no sense
like those who
a short time before them
tasted the evil results
of their actions
there is waiting for them
a painful punishment
like Satan
when it says to humans
"Be ungrateful"
then when they are
ungrateful
it says
"I have nothing to do with you
I fear God
the Liege of
all the worlds"
the end of both
is in the Fire
to live there forever
that is the reward
of those who do evil
you who believe
be Mindful of God
let every soul consider
what it has saved up
for tomorrow
be Mindful of God
God is aware of
the things you do
do not be like
those who forgot God
so Hu made them
forget themselves
they are the wicked
the companions of
the Fire
and the companions of
the Garden
are not the same
the companions of
the Garden
are the ones who are
the winners
if We had sent down
this Reading
on to a mountain
you would have seen it
made humble
and torn apart
out of fear of God
and We make
those examples for people
so that hopefully
they will think
Hu is God
there is no god but Hu
Hu is the Knower of
the unseen and the visible
Hu is
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
Hu is God
there is no god but Hu
Hu is the Monarch
the All-Holy
the All-Peaceful
the All-Comforter
the Protector
the All-Powerful
the Compeller
the Greatest
glory be to God
above what they say
are partners with Hu
Hu is God
the Creator
the Harmoniser
the Shaper-of-Beauty
to Hu belong
the Most Beautiful Names
all that is in
the heavens and the earth
glorifies Hu
Hu is
