By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
all that is in
the heavens and the earth
gives glory to
God
the Monarch
the All-Holy
the All-Powerful
the Wise
Hu raised up
from among those
who could not read
a Messenger
from among them
to read Hu's Signs to them
and to purify them
and to teach them
the Book
and the Wisdom
though before that
they had clearly
taken the wrong way
and to others of them
who have not yet
joined them
and Hu is
the All-Powerful
the Wise
that is the bounty of God
Hu gives it
to whoever Hu wills
and God's bounty
is immense
the likeness of those
who were charged with
the Torah
but could not bear it
is the likeness of
an ass carrying books
evil is the likeness
of those people
who call God's Signs lies
God does not guide
people who do evil
say
"You Jews
if you claim that you are
the friends of God
apart from other people
then long for death
if you speak the truth"
but they will never long for it
because of
what they have done
God knows
those who do evil
say
"Death
from which you run away
will meet with you
then you will be returned
to the Knower of
the unseen and the visible
and Hu will tell you
what you have been doing"
you who believe
when you are called to Sala
on the Day of Assembly
hurry to remember God
and leave business aside
that is better for you
if you only knew
then when Sala is over
spread across the land
and search for God's bounty
and remember God often
and hopefully
you will prosper
but when they see
a chance of trade
or entertainment
they scatter off to it
and leave you standing there
say
"What is with God
is better than trade
or entertainment
God is
the best of providers"
