By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
when those who
pretend to believe
come to you
they say
"We bear witness
that you are indeed
the Messenger of God"
and God knows
that you are indeed
Hu's Messenger
and God bears witness
that the pretenders
are really liars
they have taken their oaths
as a covering
and have barred from
the Way of God
what they have done
is truly evil
that is because
they have believed
then returned to being
ungrateful
so a seal has been put
upon their hearts
and they do not understand
when you see them
the look of them
pleases you
but when they speak
you hear their words
and it is as if they were
propped up planks of wood
they think every cry
is against them
they are the enemy
so beware of them
God strike them
how they are misled
and when it is said to them
"Come now
and God's Messenger
will ask for
forgiveness for you"
they turn their heads
and you see them
turn away full of pride
it is the same for them
if you ask
forgiveness for them
or you do not ask
forgiveness for them
God will never forgive them
God does not guide
people who are unjust
those are the ones who say
"Do not spend on those
who are with
God's Messenger
so that they may go away"
yet to God belong
the treasuries of
the heavens and the earth
but those who
pretend to believe
do not understand
they say
"If we go back to the city
the strong ones there
will drive off
those who are weak"
but glory belongs to God
and to Hu's Messenger
and those who believe
but those who
pretend to believe
do not know
you who believe
do not let your wealth
or your children
distract you from
remembering God
those who do that
are the losers
spend from what
We have provided for you
before death comes
upon one of you
and they say
"O my Liege
if only You would give me
a little more time
so I may give in charity
and be one of those
who do right"
but God will never
give anyone more time
once their time has come
and God is aware of
the things that you do
