By the Name
God
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
the Ever-Merciful
about what
do they ask each other
of the mighty news
on which they differ?
no indeed
they shall soon know
again no indeed
they shall soon know
have We not made the earth
as a cradle
and the mountains
as pegs?
and We created you
in pairs
and We made you sleep
for a rest
and We made night
to clothe you
and We made the day
for a living
and We have built above you
seven strong ones
and We made
a blazing lamp
and We have sent down
out of the rain clouds
water cascading
so We may grow by it
grain and plants
and gardens
of luxury
the Day of Decision
is a decided time
the day that
the Trumpet is blown
and you come in droves
and heaven is opened
and become gates
and the mountains
are set in motion
and become mist
see
Hell is an ambush
a place for those
with no respect
to live there
for a very long time
in it they taste
nothing cool
nor any drink
except
boiling water
and pus
for a suitable reward
they hoped
there would not be
a reckoning
and loudly they shouted
that Our Signs were lies
and We have numbered
everything in a Book
taste it
We will not give you
more of anything
except punishment
for those who are
Mindful of God
there is a place of safety
gardens and vineyards
attractive partners
of similar age
and a cup
overflowing
in it they will hear
no idle gossip
no talk of lies
a reward from your Liege
a gift
a reckoning
Liege of
the heavens and the earth
and all that is between them
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
of whom they have
no power to speak
on the day when
the Spirit and the Angels
stand in ranks
no-one shall speak
except those to whom
the Fount-of-All-Mercy
has given leave
and who say what is right
that will be the Day of Truth
so whoever wishes
should take the way
back to their Liege
We have warned you
of a punishment
close at hand
on the day
when people will see
what they have done
and those who are
ungrateful
will say
"If only I were dust"
