Giving
Charity
You know, being Generous is one kind of Right Action which often goes against the way we feel.
Why should we share what we have with those who have not?
It is less for us.
Why should it make us feel good?
People hold on to what they've got because they think that it will keep them feeling safe and happy.
But we can see that when they do keep everything for themselves it doesn't work that way at all.
Just because people have lots of money, and food and lots of things to play with, it doesn't always make them happy.
Very often, it seems that the more people have the more they want.
They think that the more they have, the happier they will be,
but somehow what they have is never enough.
To be happy we need to learn to be satisfied,
and to be satisfied we need to know that what we have is a gift from God,
and what God gives God can take away.
So it is important to be thankful for what we have.
And what do you think makes us feel happier,
being thankful for what we have,
or wanting what we don't have?
Muslims know that if they share what they have
God can always give them more.
Just as you provide for others,
God will provide for you
when you truly need more than you have.
And God knows what you need better than you do!
Giving Charity is so important in the Deen
that it is a duty for adults to give some of what they have in charity each year,
the charitable giving we call Zakat.
And Muhammad the Messenger was the most charitable of men.
And we learn from the Qur'an of God's guidance for mankind,
Trusting in God and Giving in Charity
the heavens and the earth
keeping them
from vanishing away
if they vanished
no-one
would hold them
after Hu
Hu is
Gentle
Most-Forgiving
and your Liege
so serve Hu
this is a straight path"
We will inherit the earth
and all those upon it
and to Us
they shall be returned
that We created them before
when they were nothing?
